But the Mayor would not have any of it.  She told us that the Councillors are being petty and explained that she did not storm out of the meeting, but that she had other engagements that she could not break.

Zenaida Moya Flowers, Belize City Mayor

“We had a scheduled public council meeting that was scheduled from five weeks ago and it was, I believe, bout two or three minutes before seven and it was going to be televised live. Hence the reason we had to leave that meeting to attend the next meeting, which would have been the public council meeting. Hence the reason we had to leave that meeting.”

“But they are saying that you’re the one who planned both meetings for the same day because they had been requesting it from the time the election of the deputy mayor occurred a month ago.”

“They sent a letter—and I have a copy of the letter—and it was received it after the Baron Bliss Holiday. So Tuesday that was when I got it and I received the letter and I responded accordingly. Again that was last week Tuesday because it came to my office the evening before the holiday or the evening before the weekend. So what they failed to say was when they actually delivered it or I don’t know if it was who delivered it and what have you. But when I actually received and could respond to it.”

“According to these Councillors, seven of them, the election held last month for the deputy mayor at which Philip Willoughby was elected, that was illegal and he stated at least two grounds on which it is illegal. One; it was held before the one year was up. Today marks I think one year since you’ve been sworn in?”

Zenaida Moya Flowers

“We have terms that go up to the ending of February. That is the term we have. Our term is the beginning of March and it ends the ending of February.”

Marion Ali

“So in your words it was a legal election.”

Zenaida Moya Flowers

“It was a legal election okay. It was a legal election.”

blah blah…Moya has lot to say and never makes any sense when saying it. Quite while your ahead and stick to unionism…you like to fight too much and that is where your skills lie best

When are they going to throw this clown in jail? If the UDP was serious about transparency in governing, this clown would havealready been locked up. Shame on her and Shame on Belize City for electing her mayor.

I like Moya. I understand what she has to face with a bunch of happy campers. they want this and that like spoil brats. when they can’t get their way then you hear them bawling. Way to go Moya, they might not like you but this is no popularity contest. let them resigned if they can’t work with you.

I wish some of the school principals were like you. too many teachers are dealing with our children who lack the love and vision to see beyond they behavior. that’s why they want to keep the wip. anyway principals take an example from Moya and lead even if it makes you unpopular.
