Robbers escape with $415,000 from SSB
The official amount stolen in the Monday afternoon hold-up at the Social Security office in Belize City has still not been released, neither by police or the Social Security office. But News Five has received reliable information that the total taken in that heist was around four hundred and fifteen thousand dollars in cash and cheques, which represented part of the afternoon’s collections from contributors. That’s right, almost half a million dollars in one hold-up. Two thieves wearing head dresses entered through the back after they reportedly knocked on the door. We understand that one of several children of Social Security employees who were inside the room near the door opened it, thinking it was an employee who wanted to come into the office. That was when the two thieves gained entrance and demanded cash from the two cashiers. The uproar has triggered a series of meetings, both at the police level and at the Managerial level at SSB. Today, the management met to discuss security issues at their offices and this evening our camera picked up that measures have already been stepped up and there are security guards on the compound. So far, police have not yet detained anyone and continue to study video recordings of the hold-up.

almost half a million dollar richer….good money to spend on weed and alcohol….i hope they get caught and the inside criminal brought to justice…

You know the police in this country is not that efficient. Police can hardly accomplishes anything. So it’s more then likely, this time thieves will run away with money again! This is how Belize is. Pitty
