“My family, they like to support me and push me to the limit so I can do good in school.”

Tanisha Sylvestre, the Chair person for the Awards Committee at ACC, says they have seen great improvement in grades since the last ceremony in January. That is partially credited to a few changes in the school’s operation, but the recognition has also been an incentive for the students to work harder.

Tanisha Sylvestre

“It really has helped. As a matter of fact, our improvements can be shown in our actual academic performance. Last year we had passing in total students, thirty-one percent of our schools population. At the end of second term we now have sixty-five percent passing. This has to do with all the different help that we put in as teachers. We have a new system in place where we have a vice principal that deals with academics by herself as opposed to the other vice principal who deals with student services affairs.”

There was also a notable increase in the number of students awarded for making the honour roll, which went up from twenty-seven to eighty-five.  Delahnie Bain for News Five.

Not on chasing billionaires and venting on former politicians …
