National Transport quietly begins layoffs
Still on the layoffs, on Friday, National Transport Limited dropped a bombshell when they disclosed that they were going to lay off a hundred and sixty workers. Today Operations Manager Phillip Jones and Human Resources Manager Larissa Madril report that they have already laid off some employees, but would not specify how many. They say that the company will proceed with the plan to terminate all hundred and sixty by December twenty-fifth. National Transport asserts that since the new zoning system was implemented in October, seventy percent of their runs were taken away and they have been suffering major losses. The company says as a result, all their workers from the south, fifty percent of the workers from the west, and all of the Ladyville transport workers have become redundant.
And in a twist, National Transport is now facing legal action from the Transport on the grounds that the bus company is operating premier buses on the Northern Highway without a permit.
