Do viewers support budget cuts in the police department?
On Tuesday night we asked the question: Do you at this time support the cuts in the budget of the police department? The question relates to the spate of murders and other violence in recent days in contrast to the limited resources available to the police to get a grip on the crime situation. The answers from our viewers has generally been against the slash in funds to the police. On our e-poll, eighty-two percent were set against the cuts. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT NEED MORE FINANCIAL BACKING TO GET THE PROPER TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY TO FIGHT CRIME MORE EFFECTIVELY…THIS BUDGET CUT WILL DEFINITELY HELP INCREASE THE CRIME RATE IN BELIZE!!!

Listen, it doesn’t matter how much money you throw at the police department or the ministry of national security, things would never improve for the better here in Belize. Its wasn’t a smart decision to decrease the police department’s budget at this point in time i must admit with the crime situation being what it is. But what didn’t surprise me was that it was their own police officers who is and were masterminding all the rampant criminal activities in the streets on a daily basis. It’s so ironic, the same police officers who are there to uphold the law are the same ones who are breaking them big time. This just goes to show that the people where right all along with their mentally as to not trust police officers. Belizeans have lost all faith in police department and so this leads to us have no sense of respect for them in any way, shape or form.
