Ras Indio returns from Amsterdam music tour

Ras Indio

Ras Indio

He’s the son of Bredda David, the Creator of Kungo Music, but the child has long grown into his own and has secured a place in Belize’s music halls.  Born David Obi the second, Ras Indio has taken his conscious lyrics and albums to several continents.  Indio, who always makes sure he is an astute ambassador of the jewel, has returned yesterday from Amsterdam, where he took part in a music festival. He stopped by our studios this morning to share about his latest experience in which he performed music from his album ‘Jah Bless Us’ which was released in January.

Ras Indio

“It was truly a blessing to be all the way over in Europe, representing us on this wonderful three day tour, March twenty-sixth, twenty seventh and twenty-eighth alongside Luton Fire, brethren from Jamaica.  It was a beautiful place, a lot of sights and scenes. They treat us well; first class ticket from Belize to Amsterdam. Keep elevating as the music keeps growing.”

Jose Sanchez

With all of these trips what is the future of your music?

Ras Indio

“To the world. To the world as some of them people would say. I’m just trying to put Belize on this worldwide musical map. I have Japan yet, I went to Morocco a few years ago. Kenya later on this year.”

Jose Sanchez

“Tell me about the music and the style that you present to these international audiences that they appreciate about you?”

Ras Indio

“Well I chose to do reggae music, kings and queens music. Because it’s the one music that allows me to spread the message that needs to be spread within this music. Music is very powerful. It determines a person’s mood and actions.  And a person’s feelings, try it. Listen to any kind of music in the morning and see how your day pans out.  Reggae music is one of the most positive, most inspirational.  Reggae music has given me an opportunity to spread divine music because

I don’t take credit for any of my lyrics.”

If you would like to see Ras Indio live on stage, he will be performing on April third and fourth on the Placencia Peninsula this Easter weekend.

Nice to see this man is still doing well for himself, despite all the problems in Belize.
I am in the Nederland’s (Amsterdam) right now, and was also here all of march, but not once did I hear anything of the festival that you participated in, would love to have gone to the show, show my support.

After all, Ras Indio and I are Belmopaneese, lived in the same neighbourhood.

Big up Ras Indio. Nice to see a Belizean brother doing well for himself despite the corruption and oppression in Belize. Keep representing our people and country, even though the leaders we elect make us look bad, but we know who we are, you know who we are. Big up
