Attorney says his advice to Young is to turn himself in

Young remains in hiding tonight.  News Five spoke to his attorney Richard ‘Dickie’ Bradley this afternoon.  Bradley says that because the charge involves the use of a prohibited item, if Young turns himself in, he will be locked up by the police despite the fact that he was not present at the location of the bust when it occurred.

Richard ‘Dickie’ Bradley, Attorney for Arthur Young

“He learned by second hand information that his name was on a charge sheet along with Errol Haynes in relation to two serious charges; one being drug trafficking and the other being possession of what we call a silencer out of the movies; it’s listed as a sound suppressor in law. Certainly the latter one would mean that he would not be able to obtain bail for a minimum of three months at the Magistrate Court. So he hears this information that they have charge sheet for him; he hears these things, he’s trying to find out what crazy world we’re living in. He was never at the place where they found these things. He is not the owner, he is not the occupier in law so the charges would not stick against a person. You can’t go to a place, find some things there and then turn around and find somebody to charge for it. What you do is you either stake out the place and you wait until he comes there or you make some arrangement to find out is he the renter of the place? Is he the owner? But just to charge him, you think he must really be angry because this is the third false charge that they have placed against him.”

“Miss Esquivel was paying the rent money on his behalf ? Is that not true?”

Richard ‘Dickie’ Bradley

“Well, I’m not able to say that because I’m only in consultation. I have received a text message from somebody—I can’t even guarantee—but I am only in communication through a second party.”

Do you intend to advise Mister Young to talk to the police?

Richard ‘Dickie’ Bradley

“No, he won’t talk to no police. He would want somebody high up explanation as to why he is being put on a charge sheet of that nature. But my advice would be, as hard as it is for somebody who is not at a residence, who was not at a place to be charged this way, my advice is that he comes in and as unfortunate as it is, he will be sent to prison.”
