Police investigation continues into fire that killed two minors

An investigation conducted by the National Fire Service into the weekend blaze that claimed the lives of siblings Alexander and Archangel Higinio in Dangriga Town has been concluded. The result of the inquiry clarifies that while the fire was caused by a faulty appliance it was not electrical. The police investigation, however, continues. News Five spoke with Charles Vernon, Officer Commanding Dangriga Fire Service.

“The cause was due to a fan; the fan malfunctioned. The fan was left on; these fans they are old, the fan with these metal blades they are covered with plastic to the rear of it and after a while if those, if the fan stops spinning it will start heating and then it will definitely, it will ignite. It was very close to a sofa and I believe this is what caused the fire. Well, my investigation has led me to deduce that the cause of the fire was due to the fan. And it so happen because of the fan, it was in the hallway and the hallway was near to the door, the children had no means of escaping.”
While the investigation into the cause of the fire seems certain, the same cannot be said as yet whether charges will brought against Marie Castillo and her common-law husband Irecie Higinio. According to Dangriga Police their preliminary findings have been forwarded to the office of the DPP who will in turn issue a directive on the matter.
I thk the partens should be charge with neglence.I dont thik that partens should leave there children at home along .Atleast leave them with and adult in neibour hood.If u dont want to do that just stay home with your kids.
It’s sad, and my heart goes out for their lost,but why was the children by their self?

It is so sad for two innocent kids bcz of the neglect of their parents. I know for a fact that parents will now take full responsibility for their children. Why would they wanna have kids and would leave them all alone especially in the night? She should go to HATTIEVILLE. Parents, we make them so lets mind them!!!!!!!
so sad for these kids…but i guess overall, this was what their parents wanted, now they are here on the streets 24/7…nothing to worry about…..I hope the truth will be shown and I hope that whichever judge gets to sentence these CARELESS SO CALL HUMAN BEINGS give them the right sentence…everyone here in this town knows that the kids were burden to them…(crying) If they didn’t have any heart for the kids, they should have gave them up( there’s a little people who are not bless to have kids) (crying)….
