Woman leaves city for good after being injured by stray bullet

The second shooting occurred less than two hours later and only two blocks away from the first one.  Unlike the first incident, a woman inside her apartment was shot.  At twenty past eight the police interviewed Sharett Welcome at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital about the incident. One of several bullets which were shot at the building caught her right arm. According to residents in the area, at least three bullets were shot at the white house situated at the corner of West Canal and Wagner’s Lane. One bullet went through the glass window of the lower flat which is occupied by the building’s owner. It entered the bedroom wall exited through the interior dry wall, and became embedded in the wall next to the front door. The upper flat which was occupied by Welcome and her sister was shot at twice. One shot went through the wooden wall, the other entered through the louvers and that is likely the bullet that his Welcome. Welcome was caring for her sister’s baby and jumped on the floor when the shots were fired.  Police and Belize Defense Force Soldiers who were patrolling in the area responded very quickly and saw four male persons about to cross the bridge in front of the building while fleeing the scene. Shots were fired from the group of men towards two police and B.D.F. soldiers who returned shots of their own. No one was injured and the assailants escaped.  However, officers have detained a sixteen year old minor of West Street for questioning and are looking for three more to help with the investigation. The building’s owner told News Five that since Welcome’s sister works in Belmopan, this afternoon they packed up and left Belize City, the murder capital, for good.

Thats a shame where will we all run to ,when this country is going to get worst, because the people being paid with our hard earn tax payers money are not doing their job they need to change them.we are paying them to do a job we are not begging.

I agree with you cg, it’s true too many people living in a small confined space will create caos. What i think Belize City really needs and forgive me for saying this, is one big natural disaster like a hurricane or something to come and flush/cleanse this hell hole of a wicked place and wipe it off the face of the earth. The good will suffer for the bad indeed yes but it’s not like that isn’t happening already on a daily basis anyways right? To me thats the only way we will see some sort of a more calm and peaceful atmosphere in the city. Or better yet, we the people form a vigilante group and take matters into our own hands since the government, police and the justice system are grossly flawed and incompetent. We know all the hotspots and gang afiliated areas in the city, so it wouldn’t be quite difficult to pluck the rotten apples off one by one and dispose of their bodies discretely. They are of no benefit or use to society and should be put down like the dogs they are since the government won’t! plain and simple…..
