Police allegedly shoot suspect and Ladyville woman

There is breaking news just in to our newsroom. The details are trickling in but a Ladyville resident was shot within the last forty-five minutes. What we have been able to find out is that a woman, identified as Lorna Alarcon, was inside her home when she was shot.  According to reports, a man identified as Michael Arnold, who also goes by the alias Crazy, was running through the yard of Area Representative Michael Hutchinson.  Cops allegedly fired four shots, one of which caught Crazy and a stray bullet found its way into Alarcon’s home on Pigeon Avenue.  The woman was lucky because the bullet did not hit any vital organs but it did injure her foot.  She has since been taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Sue them! When discharging a weapon you should always watch where you are shooting at so innocent lives are not at risk. Imagine if that bullet have killed her or even a young innocent child.

  2. Maddyvandijk says:

The cops are at it again, back to the same incompetent actions, shooting without due care, and endangering innocent people’s lives.
Sit back and wait for this story to unravel by the police, it will be the police usual story saying the man (victim) pulled out a gun at them first.

This is just crazy! Ladyville is such a peaceful place and to hear something like this in the headlines is just sad! What is this country coming to? You are in your HOME and you still have to be paranoid about what is going on out there!

  4. citizen says:

I am so sorry for Ms Lorna as I know her personally, I hope she is compensated in some way. However that guy Micheal “crazy crip” is no one to have around your neighborhood. He loves to grab young girls and fondle them…So at least we can be thankful the police caught him.

  6. Islander says:

You cannot blame the Police 100% on this. As a matter of fact you can blame GOB for this one.

If the Police department was issued Jacketed Hollow Point bullets the bullet would mushroom on impact with the house and loose most of its power, lowering the probability of hurting any innocents.

But as we all know the PD is working on a low budget so they have to use whatever bullets they confiscate from criminals and usually that is Full Metal Jackets. This bullets are notorious for going through barriers and continue going. Even if you hit your intended target they go through and continue in their trajectory until they either dump the rest of their energy on something-someone else, or loose it to gravity.

  7. Juice says:

Oh come on people you can never be satisfied, the incident is unfortunate I agree but Dam it did you prefer the police let the criminal just get away. When they try to do their job u still have some negativity to it. Belizeans we are the ones that have the police like this all confused. We corrupt them then we can’t handle it. I agree with the Islander!!! YOU BELIZEANS can just never be pleased. I am sorry for the woman that got hit and thank God it was nothing major.

  8. tania says:

i agree with you Juice! i disgust the police but they did a good job even though it hurt an innocent person, you cant expect the police to be perfect shooters!

  9. RedBwai says:

The police are a set of trigger happy crooks who can’t shoot straight…if they had proper police training this incident wouldn’t have happened. The rogue police officers just open fire indiscriminately at the persons they are persuing and they don’t even care one bit if bystanders get caught by stray bullets. Most officers carry a gun but not a single bullet inside, they are basically out armed while the criminals out here have a full arsenal stockpiled …you name it they have it from AK-47,M16,Ozzies, Tek 9, grinades, rocket launchers, C4 explosives……i wonder if they have a tank hidden somewhere in belize city too? it wouldn’t surprise me if they did. Well i sympathize with Ms. Lorna for what she went through….she should sue the police for her endangering her life.

Same old thing i am so immune to all these things now.

  11. Brambles says:

Mrs Lorna, should be compensated. She was in her own home minding her own business. Just like a car chase, the cops should know when to pull the trigger. (Not in a built-up area).

  12. Elgin Martinez says:

Brambles:Correction to your statement situation dictates when and where you pull the trigger.

  13. maddyvandijk says:

Islander, don’t forget that we are talking about Belize, and not American or European countries, those country are much richer and more sophisticated than little Belize., they can afford such things. Sophisticated Bullets cost money and certainly no other country will freely give them to poor, criminal Belize.

    Juice:
The lady is lucky to be alive today, if you are still in denial about the faults of the police then I feel sorry for you. The police are mostly retards running around with guns shooting without due care. The retards are not running around armed with Jacketed Hollow Point bullets trying to catch criminals in residential areas, they are arm and dangerous.

The next time a retarded police tried to capture a criminal the next innocent by-stander might not be so lucky like the woman that got shot in her foot.
Moral of the story: the police need better training.

  14. Elgin Martinez says:

Moral of the story is that Dean Barrow need to stop acting like a lame duck.
