Murder near St. John Vianney; William Warrior Young is latest victim
The outrage at the shooting of civilians on Wednesday by police is still raging. And while police were pleading their case before the media, a fatal shooting took place dangerously close to a primary school. It ended in the instant death of Michael Warrior Young. Of the twelve bullets that were fired at him, two caused the fatal injuries. Police could not confirm if the murder of the nineteen year old was an act of retaliation but there is word that it may be linked to the Wednesday night shootings in Belize City. Young has had his own share of entanglements with the law. Marion Ali has the details.

Boots Crescent shows no sign that there was trouble in the area this morning but a youth was murdered on this street shortly after eleven today. Residents of the area told News Five that nineteen year old Michael Warrior Young fell off his bicycle onto the dirt road after a barrage of bullets rang out.

“He was approached by a lone gunman who came out an empty lot. He was dressed in a grey polo shirt and a black short pants, had a white rag tied across his mouth. When Young saw this person he apparently ran off and the person pursued him and ended up shooting him; fatally injuring him. One shot to the back, the left side of his back and another shot somewhere on the left leg. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.”
The area has become so dangerous that one of the residents says she is even afraid to venture outside.

“Wah lot ah shot always every now and again. Ih scare me to hell even fi sit down pan mi own step dah night.”
Police are also looking at the possibility that Young’s murder may be linked to Wednesday night’s shooting of Mark “Pele” Vernon. Vernon remains critical at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Marion Ali for News Five.
Young most recent charges were for two shootings in September 2009, in which he allegedly targeted Trevor Trapp and Kareem Williams. For those incidents he was charged with Attempted Murder and Aggravated Assault.
Covering of one’s face in the public should be outlaw PERIOD.
When will it end???????
You live by the sword, you die by the sword.
As far as I am concerned about this person he got what he deserved, another piece of trash off the streets.

This is enough said about Young.
While it is nearly impossible to put one’s finger on the reasons behind the staggering crime in our beautiful country, it is clear that the monster has to be dealt with immediate forceful impact. Our Central American jewel – Belize – is rapidly turning into an Iraqi like atmosphere. We are a loving and respectful people. How could our kids not learn from our rich history of living in PEACE, JOY & HAPPINESS???
Also, it is difficult to read the creole, is it possible that the reporters and news media report the news in standard English? Doesn’t this defeat or reduce the purpose of us learning the structure of English in our schools? Just a thought!!!
I will continue to pray for Belize. I love Belize. The leaders of our beautiful Country, need to get on their knees and Pray. Ask God to show you how to beacome Godly Leaders. Live by example. Much Love……Jackie (Miami Beach, Fl)
I agree with Es[ino3rdfromGriga why not reword the cerole words in English. English is what we learn in school not cerole.
Espino3rdfromGriga you are not the first person I have heard say Belize is …”turning into a little Iraq” however, I disagree the IRAQIS ARE DEFENDING THEMSELVES FROM WHAT IS AN INVASION OF THEIR COUNTRY BY WHO THEY CONCEIVE IS THE ENEMY….BELIZEANS (MOSTLY BLACKS) ARE KILLING THEMSELVES BECAUSE OF SELF-HATRED…MORE LIKE THE GENOCIDE OF BLACK MEN WHO ARE THEIR OWN WORSE ENEMY, THAT IS TAKING PLACE IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES ALL OVER THE WORLD, FOR EXAMPLE: JAMAICA, TRINIDAD, AMERICA…….AND NOW BELIZE.
SAD, SAD, SAD VERY SAD STORY, I PRAY AND HOPE IT STOPS!!!!!
i wonder sometimes why its the black people that are killing each other.
Thanks for the clarity “OriginalWoman”. However, the Iraqi metaphor that I used was the first that came to mind. With respect to Jon Jon’s opinion, why is it that we – black men – of different ethnicity/background/culture, are killing ourselves? Again as stated in my first opinion, it is impossible to know why we are doing such things. What if any are the politicians doing to curtail the senseless violence? I continue to read the Constitution of Belize but I am yet to discover anything about arming of oneself. How is it that there are so much guns in our country but yet few jobs? How is it that there is a dire health front while the health mangement systems are woefully inadequate? Why is it that our people don’t have hope but yet still await the few dollars that we send from the states? Again, just sharing my thought…
I’m sick to my stomach of whats going on in Belize, I love my country very much and would love to be back home but with all what going on I’m considering to retire somewhere else. Wake up Prime Minister Barrow do something. Please do.
