Youth tries to steal ex-cop’s gun, gets shot in the leg
And at news time, a youth is receiving medical treatment in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital tonight after he was shot by an ex-police constable shortly after five this evening.
Kareem Barona was reportedly shot in the leg in the height of the traffic rush hour on the Belize City Swing Bridge after he tried to relieve the ex-cop of his licensed weapon. But Barona got a rude awakening and had to flee harm’s way. Reports to News Five are that Barona was one of two youths who followed the unidentified officer. The two culprits reportedly pursued their would-be victim on foot from the Belize Bank area to where they tried to relieve him of the weapon.
