Officers to be charged with manslaughter of Jamaican national

O'neil Jones
Earlier we reported on questionable killings of civilians while in police custody. Well reliable information reaching News Five is that the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has instructed police to charge two of their own with Manslaughter in the death of Jamaican national, fifty four year old O’Neil Jones. Jones shot on February twelfth while riding away from Ruba’s Bar in Lord’s Bank Village. Both Police Constable Lazaro Catch and Corporal Jorge Lemus are expected to be arraigned on the lesser charge of Manslaughter. It is known that one of the two officers is in custody at the Crimes Investigations Branch while the other remains at large. Catch was reportedly picked up from a checkpoint on the Northern Highway where he was on duty. Jorge Lemus remains at large and on the advice of his attorney, he will surrender himself to the police at the break of dawn on Tuesday. Jones was shot dead while he tried to ride away from the bar and eyewitnesses said he was not armed nor was he doing any wrong at the time he was fatally shot. A police press release the following day claimed police shot Jones because he had what they say appeared to be a weapon, which turned out to be a bicycle part. Eyewitnesses also claimed that Jones had just stopped a fight and was riding off when police shot him three times. He died on the spot.

More killer cops, one of them still at large.
I hope when that idiot turns himself in he gets many more years for running away from the very law that tried to protect him in the first place.
Again, where are their photos?
oh jez- he’ll be out like mr. victor from buena vista one year jail time and he’ll be out with his uniform of police with a high rank sticking in his shoulder just watch it.
I know for a fact that this story is wrong and mr. lemus might sue. he is not on the run. and he did not shoot. only one officer fired a shot. Where did this information about being on the run come from? By the way mr. lemus lives near the ladyville police station and he is at home right now. go by his house and ask him that?
I know what you mean. Channel 5 ran a story saying my husband was on the run from the police after allegedly extorting money from someone. He was charged internally and in the courts and he was found not guilty in both hearings as he did not receive nor did he solicit any monies from the complainant. The complainant merely made a counter complaint because he was found driving upstop, under the influence, with no license and insurance and so he was brought into the station. he was never charged for those offences but instead my husband was charged with extortion.
Well i know lemus personally and he is very intelligent and smart ,he will never run away but i can tell u this whatever he is doing at t his point and time he is covering his a… and he will come back with a lawsuit against the department. You cant judge a book by its cover open it and read .
This guy is just being charged because of pressure from the Jamaican authorities.Shame on you Mr Barrow. What a double standerd.
