And in more news from the court, a security guard and a bartender were charged with Robbery when they appeared in Magistrate’s Court. Today, twenty-six year old, Silvano Bustillo and nineteen year old Anibal Lemus were charged for stealing a purse containing one hundred dollars from A and E conductor, Kevin Kuylen. Bustillo and Lemus pleaded not guilty to the charge and were each offered a bail of five thousand dollars. The case was adjourned until January nineteenth.
According to Kuylen, the incident occurred on Saturday night around six-forty when he was lying on the front seat of a bus parked on East Collet Canal in front of the La Cabana Bar. He says that two men approached him one of whom stabbed at him with a knife. A struggle then ensued and the bus driver turned on the light. The other culprit then grabbed the purse and escaped. Kuylen identified his robbers to the police and less than an hour later, Bustillo and Lemus were arrested one block away from where the incident occurred.
Both Lemus and Bustillo are known for breaking the law and Lemus was recently freed of the charge of attempted murder when a nolle prosequi was entered. Bustillo, on the other hand has a charge of theft for which the trial is pending.
