Three adults and a minor charged for Zhen Zhennong’s murder

Four men including a minor will be arraigned before the magistrate’s court in San Ignacio on Monday following arrests in connection with the Mother’s Day murder of Chinese national Zhen Zhennong in Santa Elena. This afternoon San Ignacio police jointly charged eighteen year old Anthony Dennison, twenty year old Denfield Tasher Jr., twenty nine year old Kurt Morgan and a minor for murder, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Zhennong, a businesswoman of Alwin’s Restaurant in Santa Elena Town, was brutally murdered during a robbery on Sunday.

According to police reports the men entered the restaurant posing as customers, ordered food then proceeded to rob its proprietors. During the incident Zhennong was shot once to the upper torso and left for dead. She was carrying her baby on her back, but the child was miraculously unhurt.

i understand the sentiments but realistically we wont see the death penalty brought to Belize in our life time. we basically have to endure and work with the corrupt with cops and their limited resources and limited competence. In a nut shell the situation is dier for Belize. I hate to descriminate but because these type of crimes arent occuring on the northside it is not given the necessary attention it requires. Southside, in the eyes of many if not all, is frown upon fuel by the sensationalization of the media.

I agree with everyone that these guys should be hanged as their punishment. It would be justifiable in the eyes of man and God. I also think that we should set a date where everyone that wants to see these guys hanged can come out and demonstrate it with signs or what ever way they wish. i do believe that their will be many in support of this protest. somebody should organize it.
Hanging will not bring back the dead.The people who support hanging is no better than the killers they condemed.Hanging is not justice ,it is vengence.Leave vengence to God.You could hang everyone who is guilty of murder , and society will still produce more killers.The questions is why are there so many killing in Belize ?. Once we find out the cause of the problem , then we could fix the problem.
The police should start profiling criminals, or criminal personality profiling perhaps this could help save lives.

These guys are cold-blooded killers and deserve no mercy! The guy who planned the whole incident is as guilty or more guilty than the rest because he is cold, I can tell you that. He knew exactly what these cold animals were going to do and I believe he should be hit with the same charge as the rest. The police usually know who are the troublemakers and for some reason they are always overlooked no matter what they do. many times the minor charges are what they keep harrassing people for. Get out there and deal with the real issues!! Sometimes the constables get discouraged because they try to do their jobs but the big fries just discourage them because money makes the mail run, you know what i mean. I tell you this whole wystem is crooked and cruel.

Any “person” that shoots at point blank range a mother with her baby on her back deserve all what all of you have mentioned + serious torturing….why torturing? because they will most likely get off the hook of all the above mentioned (except the torturing which should be done while in holdup) either because police will blunder the investigation or one of our well paid “bright” lawyers will do the favours.. it’s not the first time that heartless assassins in Belize shoot at a defenseless mother/father holding a baby!! and as long as these cowards face no REAL consequence to their actions it will continue to happen!! where are those that did it before?? back on the streets killing again & again… all thanks to our politicians (that by the way are the same lawyers that will represent them in court sooner or later) that allow the loopholes in our laws that set free these killers … or that have no interest in properly training our police officers so as not to blunder the investigations (can anybody find ANY sense in cutting the police dept budget in the middle of a ruthless crime wave???).. What is Belize coming to.Two wrong does not make a right. I know people are angry. I am angry too, but I do not want to live in a police state where the army patrol the streets.I pray for all victims of crime, but I also pray for the people who commit these crimes.They are also victims. I do not want to see Belize become like China , or some of these Middle Eastern countries. You could say what you want about America, but the whole world is coming to America.I do not see no one trying to go to some of these countrys that are oppressive that some of you want Belize to become.
I bet they either get off scott free, due to bad police work, bungling DPP or clever lawyers, or will not face a murdr charge, but manslaughter. None of them has the b*lls to admit to pulling the trigger, and if they get assaulted whilst in custody, the case will be thrown out.

I am disgusted and angry just seeing their picture on my screen, I don’t know if it is a good thing their picture is shown or not because I have to tell you it brought up some really really bad feelings in me that I should not have. I know God does not make mistakes but why were these animals even born and what kind of parents do they have????? I don’t think people are born animals they become animals so what happened?????? They even look like crazed animals…look in their eyes there is nothing there but pure evil. I guess the devil has his people working very hard in Belize……….

I am also angry at what these guys did, but I don’t understand the commentary here about the way they look. To me, they just look like three men of African descent, wearing their hair braided as many desendants of Africans have done for years.
Basically, it seems like some of you are saying, black people look like criminals? I understand that it is probably no surprise they are black, since most of the criminals of gun violence in Belize are those of African descent, but the negative commentary here regarding their appearance, simply as black men, is troublesome.
Not all black men with braided hair or wearing a short afro are criminals. I guess that’s my point.

Your 500 from your pay check could be better spend on educating the youths of Belize, by creating jobs for our people , by providing land for our people who want to farm , by building decent affordable houses.Lock up the real drug dealers.The ghetto boys are not the drug kingpins.They do not have planes and boats the is bringing the load of drugs into Belize. That baby can no longer take care of her child and that child will no longer feel the loving embrace, listen to the loving words spoken to her or receive the just and unselfish love that only her mother could give her.

If you know a man for what he does in his private life, do not expect anything other than that to follow him in his time of power. In reality you should expect worst. If you do not know a man for what he does in his private life, you should try to do your best to find out if he is the best man for the job he is undertaking.

Black men with braids are neither ugly or threatening but have occasionally been mistaken for women. The hate filled expression that evokes fear & revulsion makes it easier for us to believe that these three are murderers incapable of feeling empathy for a fellow human being & even less for her child. It is hard for most of us who are parents to imagine not having the ability to protect our children especially an infant & the anger we are saying is more a reflection of that than race. I want to thank their families for not coming out & telling us what princes they are.

I hope we do not have to resort to mercenaries to back up our courts. Disappearing criminals may become the only solution to curb some of the violence. It is harsh but there will be no more gang rituals at funerals & there is something worse than death, no one knowing that you’re dead.
Wow.. Why are we making this issue into a personal battle between people that are on the same side of the fence? Can we leave the hate outside of the discussion boards? We need to start having constructive discussions people. See this is exactly what is holding a lot of Belizeans back, they always want to have the last word and out do each other no matter what the cost; instead why don’t we put our heads together to solve this problem.
