This one is for all the older adults who feel like there’s never a dance with music to suit your taste.
San Ignacio, tomorrow there will be a fundraiser for the Mary Open door foundation which helps women in domestic violence situations. They will be selling jewelry as well as crafts to raise money for a new building. There will be food and drinks also on sale. Now its time to check out the best fry chicken in Belize City voted by you!
Safiyyah Mohammed
“I’m here at number seven Honda street o check out Pratt’s Fried Chicken, the best fried chicken in Belize City voted by you. So let’s check it out.”
Kenrick Pratt, Owner/Manager, Pratt’s Fried Chicken
“I am Kenrick Pratt, owner and manager of Pratt’s fried chicken and also the main chef. This is how my chicken is prepared. First of all, in the morning everything is freshly cleaned and seasoned. A variety of seasons I use, I don’t want to say, but I use a variety.”
Safiyyah Mohammed
“Secret?”
Kenrick Pratt
“Secret, yes. My next step before frying, I put it in flour and I stir it a little. My next step, that’s to the fryer. People enjoy it the way I do it so I just keep on doing it this way and from time to time I try add a little something different just to see, to improve. I was inspired by my nephew, the Belizean Fry Chicken, I used to call and order chicken and I have to wait half an hour, an hour so I said this man needs help. I had a little money, so I decided to open my own business. Some people would like their chicken with sauce, but the sauce was made specially for wings.”
Safiyyah Mohammed
“And you make the sauce yourself?”
Kenrick Pratt
“Yes, I make my sauce myself. It’s a combination of many different things; secret sauce. I tried it and many people like it and I said well, if people like then that’s the sauce. That’s what Pratt’s chicken or wings looks like with sauce. You’d like to try it? She’s having a taste of the wings right now and any time if any new customers would like to try it, don’t be afraid, Pratt is always open and welcome to suggestions. If I have something you don’t like you say it. that’s the only way I can be at my best.”
Safiyyah Mohammed
“It’s really good. I’m trying to guess some of what’s in there but it’s really delicious.”
Kenrick Pratt
“If you could guess some of the ingredients, nothing wrong with that. But, like I said, you know I have my own thing. Belizeans on a whole should be proud of a Belizean for what they’re doing, brining good food to the Belizean public. When I was young a lot of old people used to get stroke. Now I think because of the type of food we eat, fast food, it’s fatty and unhealthy, so we just rush it. Now, I try to present a good meal for people. I don’t look at my food as fast food, I look at it as decent home cooked meal.”
Next week I want to know where I can get the best Chow mein in Belize City. Text me at 625-3079 and let me know. Okay guys, have a great weekend! Bye!
