Another Bowen and Bowen office robbed

Bowen and Bowen distribution centre in Belize City was jacked last Tuesday morning when it had just opened for business. One week later, its centre in Dangriga was held up by robbers in the crime wave sweeping across the country. Shortly before seven on Monday night, the thieves targeted the site, about two miles out of Dangriga.  While no one was seriously hurt in the armed hold-up, the thieves did hit one of two security guards before escaping with cash.  The company’s Public Relations Manager, Hiliberto Martinez, did not reveal how much the thieves got away with but explained to News Five how the thieves pulled off the assault.

“Three armed men went into the distribution centre in Dangriga and broke the glass doors, held up the security, took away the guns and entered. The staff, who was there at the time, ran, probably running away for their lives.  But nobody was hurt or shot, everybody was in a panic.  The security was hurt because he was knocked with the gun.  They came from behind one of the trucks and they had on masks so we don’t know who they were.  All we know is apparently they spoke English or Kriol. And they ran off with the money; it was a quick thing.  It’s the first time we have been robbed in Dangriga, yes, but definitely we’re looking at enhancing the security features now.  We had security there, there was two armed security and we’ll have to do something else now to make sure we can try and stop it as best as possible and to protect our staff.”

Dangriga police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the incident.
