Duo goes to prison for firearm and ammunition offences

They were busted with a homemade shot gun in 2008 and today, two Belize City men were convicted of Keeping a Prohibited Firearm. Nineteen year-old Zane Cantun was sentenced to two years behind bars while twenty year old Oliver Harvey will spend four. On January seventeenth 2008, police on mobile patrol spotted the two men on Regent Street riding separate bicycles. The cops stopped and search the men, which led to the discovery of one part of a homemade shot gun in Harvey’s pocket and another part of the gun on Cantun. Further checks led police to the recovery of a cartridge for the homemade shotgun, which Harvey also had. They were charged jointly charged with Keeping a Prohibited Firearm and Harvey was additionally charged with Keeping Prohibited Ammunition. The two chose to remain silent and said nothing in their defense. Magistrate Edd P. Usher found that the police prosecutor provided sufficient evidence against them and they were found guilty.
Two less scumbags off the streets of Belize, no one cares, really.
Stop taking all of them to prison though, the prison is not big enough, and tax payers money is going down the drain, there is another way to solve the problem, cheap, cheap.
Lock there …. up and throw away the key because that gun they could have use or did use to kill or inflict wound on somebody already.
WHEN I READ THIS REPORT MYFIRST THOUGHT WAS I WONDER IF THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN LESS TIME OR GOT OFF FREE IF THEY HAD ACTUALLY USED THE FIREARM THAT WAS FOUND ON THEM. HOW CAN YOU SERVE TIME FOR HAVING AN AMMUNITION BUT WALK OUT OF THE COURTROOMS FREE TO KILL AGAIN AFTER COMMITTING MURDERS?
i tink that they have to STOP giving them food cuz is the tax payers money is going down the drain, only if there family take food for them make them eat and drink water and so the problem will start get solve….!!
That”s not a good method of solving the problem “dads” for only then will another problem be created unsafe people already locked up—-fighting for food—- by the way there’s no longer a Privy Council we now have what is referred to as tha hanging judge—CCJ— In order for this problem to be corrected we have to start with ourselves as parents because we’re the problem always willing to make excuses for our kids knowing fully well that they’re not innocent—enforcing education—ignorance is very great in the country— it all starts from home. Our kids are safer in America than Bze—that’s a shame—we should really step back and take a real close look at it all then start blaming others if we can live with the truth—which normally hurts really bad.
Since 2008 and just getting convicted??? and murderes get off in a couple of weeks…mein…this system sucks!
