In Belmopan in the early afternoon Prime Minister Dean Barrow updated the media on the medical status of Williams. This latest incident of gun violence coincidentally occurred on the eve of the Prime Minister’s anticipated plan to reestablish a sense of normalcy to the streets of the old capital.

“The doctors who struggled all of last night to save his life did a wonderful job and those heroic efforts continue through the present time. The hope is that he can be taken abroad if he can sufficiently be stabilized but there have been very, very serious internal injuries and it really is touch and go. The doctors are saying that once he is stable enough to be able to withstand the trip by air ambulance to the United States they expect of course that he will be in the best hands there and the hopes would be a little higher. As we speak, I’ve been told that the air ambulance is on the ground and I believe he, the doctors have determined, or will determine very shortly that he is stable enough to go by air ambulance. That’s certainly as I indicated would mean that if he gets to Miami safely we could be a little bit more optimistic than things had looked certainly last night and early this morning.”

“I know you’ve been at his side last night and earlier this morning. Can you share with us what the feeling of his family and loved ones are who are also by his side?”

“Well his wife is of course was devastated; but she is a strong woman and of course there were lots of folks around trying to comfort her this morning. Lots of folks around joining in a circle of prayer, I think that sort of thing has helped. But naturally she is very, very worried indeed because as the doctors were quite clear last night that it was very much touch and go. I hope that she no doubt will go with him on the air ambulance. I hope that once it’s determined that he’s stable enough and can make the trip that she will begin to feel a little more hopeful and little more relieved.”

“P.M. it’s a bit coincidental that this unfortunate event comes on the eve of your plan to restore Belize. Can you tell us whether or not this particular incident will have any effect or bearing on your plan for the restoration of the crime and violence situation?”

“Well I think it dramatizes how important the initiative is; how timely it is that it comes not a moment too soon. It certainly makes things as personal for me as things can ever get and it certainly makes me know that apart from the new minister I personally have to invest all the effort I can into having this thing work into achieving the success that the society both demands and deserves.”
I think now most of the politicians are awake and aware that no one is an exception to the Constant violence in Belize.
I personally believe that something should have been done a long time ago; many lives could have been saved.
Barrow, what could have been the motive of the shooting?
Mr Barrow need to be on the alert, I’snt this the lawfirm that stand between the belizean people protest against offshore drilling and the big oil cooperations? Just a suggestion ! don’t you think it can be connected? is this not the same guy who said that there is no stopping the drilling? maybe just maybe someone had had enough of the hype of big time politicians and thier lawfirms. just a thought

Nobody is bashing the man for going overseas to get medical attention and i am in agreement with him to leave Belize as he may die here with ridiculous hospital they dear to call a HOSPITAL, Cuz at the end of the Day we all end up at KHMH… Now as for Barrow, i am not sure he will get the picture as yet, i think it really needs to hit home and see what he will do. People are fed up with HIM and his FAMILY reaping all the sweets our country have to offer. Government laywer(lois, cuz according to him all other lawyers are corrupted) Anwar- Director at BTL, and his daughter ( following in her mother foot step) then her come SHYNE- Ambassador ( u can’t be serious a convicted felon a role model). Barrow u may think we a stupid but guess what we are waking up and sadly you will feel the blunt of our rage over what u are doing… Please think before u do things. lawddd if we were given the same opportunities that you are giving your family Hell we maybe have been lawyer. Your Family don’t need handouts from you , they are educated they can make it. The little boy down boulevard need to know where his next meal will come from, the little girl down south needs to know where she will get the dollar fi buy an exercise book for class tomorrow. The youth down the street is trying to make his life better but tuition money noh di deh. Barrow u get the drift Education is the key yo success… ask Patrick he benefited from the government (scholarship) thats why he is not in the cemetery. Lawwdddi ope Ministry Of Youths is more effective now,, cuz damn nothing is happening for the youths of this country. Who knows maybe williams shooters was making sure he eats the next day and dat mommy have food on the table or maybe tuition for his sister is being meet. All these things are co relation. A hungry man is an angry… This doesn’t only go for FOOD … Thats life. WAKE THE HELL UP>>>
