Attorney General unleashes reflection on new post
At the press conference Prime Minister Dean Barrow also defended his choice of B. Q. Pitts as the Attorney General. According to the P.M., Pitts is well respected by his colleagues in the judiciary and can produce legislative as well as judicial reform very quickly. Pitts, also spoke briefly on the podium and said that he will deeply reflect on his new responsibilities.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“I think he will drive the process that will see us end up with a dedicated court for dealing with the violent crimes. I think he will drive the process that will see us get a more effective prosecution. I think he will drive the process that will see us be able to collaborate and talk to the judiciary about sentencing policies, I think he will drive the process that will produce a faster working, quicker justice dispensing judiciary overall and I also think he will drive process that will produce the legislative reform that is necessary to back stop what we want to do with the police department in particular.”
Jose Sanchez
“What legislation, if any, do you intend to push, maybe stronger gun control? What is it that you intend to do?”
B.Q. Pitts, Attorney General
“First of al l let me thank the prime minister for so eloquently and accurately describing my attitude. Without disclosing my age, I will tell you, however, that from youth to age I have been of unusual strength. When I set my mind to anything, I do it. In relation to what you ask, it is an early question and has to be answered after deep reflection. It is not just like instant coffee which appears to me you want to drink. I can’t offer you that cup. I must give it a little time, but certainly I have in mind all those concerns that my prime minister has raised and they will be addressed. You will see the reform.”
So go figure.

We can only hope that reshuffling the cabinet will make a difference. Until Mr Singh presents a plan to show how he will clean up the Police Department & begin to implement it & he & Mr. Pitts start paddling in the same direction, get cases to trial quickly(2-3 yrs of terror will break even good witnesses will) & improve our conviction rate, most of us will remain skeptical. Mr(s) Singh & Pitts, don’t just prove us wrong, make us eat crow. Show the world that you brothers are up to the job.
Barbeque Pitts is a joke in the legal profession.
well call this politricks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Considering that crime is a pressing concern, Mr. Pitts should’ve had something more substantial that an analogy about coffee for the media.
iTS LIKE JUST CHANGING” MONKEY FI DOG”, THERE WERE SO MANY CONSULTATIONS ABOUT HOW TO IMPROVE OUR COUNTRY,SEE THE CROOKS REPORT ITS JUST A WASTE OF TIME AND A WASTE OF MONEY !!!!!!! NOTIN HAS BEEN DONE,SO LETS SEE WHAT MR.PITTS AND MR SINGH WILL DO?
This is definitely Politics. If you take a close look at it the PM has all the port folio because he will have to guide those guys.
without a doubt,B.Q.Pitts is a prominent and respected legal mind serving Belize for many years but make no mistake he comes from a DIE Hard UDP family. So to some extent it is politricking at work.
