Woman charged with attempted theft of bed sheets
A domestic worker of Flamboyant Street in Belize City who allegedly attempted to help herself to bed sheets has been charged with Attempted Theft. Today fifty-one year old Martha Young appeared before Magistrate Aretha Ford who placed charges on her for allegedly trying to steal two sets of sheets from Bottom Dollar Supermarket. Young wanted to plea guilty to the charge, but Ford entered an equivocal plea of not guilty. This was because Young did not completely agree with the facts. Young was offered bail of one thousand, five hundred dollars and the case was adjourned until December eighteenth.
The incident occurred yesterday when Chief Security Officer for Santiago Group of Companies, Francisco Camara, reported to police that while at Bottom Dollar, he saw Young put two sets of sheets in two gift bags. The woman then deposited the gift bags at the safe keeping section of the supermarket and proceeded with her shopping. But she was stopped by the alert Camara as she attempted to leave and when he searched her bags, he found the sheets. Police were called and Young was detained.
