S.J.C.’s Ian Lizarraga is top student
In other news, the Ministry of Education has finally released the names of Belize’s top students in the C.A.P.E. and C.X.C. examinations. Topping the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations with six grade one passes is Ian Lizarraga, earning the S.J.C. student title of the Most Outstanding Candidate and the Belize Scholarship for 2008. Lizarraga also took first place in three subject areas; Caribbean Studies, Physics units one and two and Pure Mathematics units one and two.
Accolades also went to Christopher Chang for first place in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate Examinations. Chang obtained twelve grade ones at the General/Technical proficiency and was named the Most Outstanding C.S.E.C. Student in Belize. He also took the Subject Group Award in Science and first place in Physics. Like Chang, Jordan Medina also attained twelve grade ones at the general/technical proficiency level. Medina took home the Subject Group Award in Technical/Vocational subjects and first place in Physical Education and Sports. Both are students of St. John’s College. Other candidates singled out for national awards include Yueh-Han Eric Lin, also of S.J.C. and Malika Anderson of Stann Creek Ecumenical. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November twenty-first at the Bliss.
