Man found guilty of Carnal Knowledge of 15 year old

Also in the Supreme Court, a jury of six women and three men took two hours and fifteen minutes before it found forty-one year old Leroy Stevens guilty of Carnal Knowledge. Stevens, a former assistant supervisor of Belize Water Services Limited, will wait until November seventeenth to know his fate. Justice Adolph Lucas set the date for then in order to give Stevens time to prepare a plea for mitigation and call character witnesses. The complainant, a fifteen year old primary school student, testified that she went to a house in Hattieville on December fourteenth, 2006 where she met Stevens who asked to have sex with her. She said she consented and after Stevens was finished, he gave her a dollar and fifty cents. Stevens chose to remain silent in court but in his address to the jury he said he is a happily married man with two daughters and he is innocent of the crime. Stevens appeared undefended while Prosecutor Nadine Palacio represented the Crown.

Meanwhile, a twenty year old resident of Indian Creek Village has been detained pending charges of Carnal Knowledge. On Tuesday, a thirteen year old reported to police that during the month of September she had sex with Lindsford Cal. A medical examination revealed that the minor has been carnally known. Police continue to investigate the allegation.
