U.S. national rebooked for manslaughter by negligence
A U.S. national who was preparing to leave the country was picked up at the Phillip Goldson International Airport this afternoon, as he was about to board a flight to Houston, Texas. Businessman Christopher Hysinger, hours before was freed of five charges, among them Manslaughter by Negligence. When he was taken back to court Magistrate Albert Hoare, who had dismissed the charges because the investigation into the incident has not been completed, arraigned Hysinger a second time in one day. The other charges against the accused are Causing Death by Careless Conduct, Driving without Due Care and Attention and two counts of Grievous Harm. Hysinger, who was represented by attorney Dean Lindo, was offered bail of ten thousand dollars on the condition that the surety is Belizean. He will appear in court again on December third.
The charges against the U.S. national go back to April of this year and occurred between nine-thirty and ten a.m. in an area past mile twenty-seven on the Western Highway. Twenty-one year old Kenroy Peyrefitte, a front seat passenger in a red Toyota Corolla, was killed instantly when the car collided with a Land Cruiser Prado driven by Hysinger. Forty-one year old Adran Aldana, the driver of the car, and her son Jabir, who was in the back seat, received minor injuries. Aldana was going from Belize City to Camalote and Hysinger was traveling from San Ignacio.
