“We are always looking for things to do in the association apart from Sound Fest and we thought that fathers weren’t getting attention. And so we decided to start last year and it was very successful. We had a whole lot of entries and this year was the same, we had about eighteen entries, we invite artists to write songs about ‘dad’ and what not, something nice about your dad, because we know they have a lot of nice dads out here still. The response was once again very nice and this year we are having have artists from Punta Gorda and Corozal and Belize City. So, it’s not just artist from in the city; but we happy to know that the artist them from the districts also di tek part eena di show. We look forward to have a real nice evening inside the Bliss Centre for Performing Arts on Sunday.”

“Well, yeah ih nuh matter, dancehall, soca, reggae, something will be there for everybody because we have people like Princess Shirley, who will do something bolero sort of thing. We have some younger artist weh wah definitely do some dancehall sort of thing, you know reggae and everything. Dah wah mixture ah real great music; but the best part of it is that the artist they get to create their own thing. It gives them ah chance to show dad some love.”
First prize is one thousand dollars and a trophy, second prize is five hundred dollars and a trophy and there are other prizes up to fifth place. The competition was won last year by Joe Lawrence.

Very good for the commited dads in this country, but Mr Tony Wright, can you guys make a song for does no good dads that make picni and abandon them without looking back!!
MAybe a song dedicated to them will make them feels ashamed of their action, and realize that someday they will be old men in need of their children to take care of them.
Hey Macal…. I think Shyne did a song about that.
Macal: The mom and dad responsible lets be fair.
