Accused chain snatcher out on bail

Ebony flowers

Another case before the courts dealt with a theft that occurred on Ebony Street on April thirteenth. Ironically, the accused person is Ebony Flowers, a twenty-five year old mother of three from Courtenay Crescent. Twenty-one year old Primilee Hemsley claims that she was standing near the intersection of Ebony Street and Central American Boulevard when Flowers rode by and snatched her gold chain from around her neck then disappeared into Vernon Street. She pleaded not guilty and while the piece of jewelry is said to be worth one thousand five hundred dollars, Flowers had to shell out two thousand bucks to cover her bail today. She comes back to court on August second. Flowers was previously charged with the theft of a Beach Cruiser bicycle from Jose Hernandez on June eleventh, 2008. She was fined a thousand dollars and ordered to stay out of trouble for a year. If convicted on the current charge, Flowers will then have to serve a prison term instead of a fine.

Do the crime ….. Do the time….

  2. BORN THERE says:

Even though she is a female, she must be dealt the same punishment for her crime as a male criminal. She had the “balls” to steal someone else’s property, then she will have to pay for it.

  3. SAN PEDRO..... says:

Send to to jail for life! we dont need them waste of time so called lady to be in our society……………! have no mercy on this fool!

  4. Kendralee Z says:

SHE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HERSELF! TAKE HER AWAY! LOCK HER UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY!

  5. Maddyvandijk says:

Tsk, tsk, tsk another lazy Belize city woman not willing to work for what she want in life, as if though the misery there is not enough, she has to bring her own misery into other peoples lives.

give her a few weeks in jail and that should set this idiot straight, then force her to work.

  6. Don Pepe says:

How the ….l can we make this country better when this kind of things is happening, what kind of examples are parents to their kids, with this kind of examples we get a worst Belize in the near future. Shame on you, get a life, work you still young.

  7. Belizean Marine says:

What is my country coming to. She should be placed in jailed and force to work once her jail time is completed. I know she has kids, but she should have thought about them….three kids and not grown yet speaks volume on this woman. you live and you learn. place her behind bars, let her do some soul searching if she has any. I am feeling sorry for the kids though. Nice way to screw over you family.

  8. Manford says:

Funny, funny, funny. When other so-call upper class individuals are accused of stealing thousands of dollars, I never saw such anger expresed toward them as is evident against this sorryful woman, natural from the not so favourable neighbourhood. Of course this is not to condone her shameful act. White color criminals are caught on a regular basis, but they have the benefit of a sympathizing public. One of the only difference in their criminal act, is that its been done behind closed doors and without a gun; but its just as disgraceful. As far as I’m consern they are more shameful, after giving themselves an education to be a real contributor to their family who in many sacrifice, they trow it away because of been dishonost.

  10. Becky says:

To bad this things happens in our country. But that is why it is called world. when a person disobeys the laws of a country, let the law itself judge them. If by offending the law she deserve time in prison let the law decide. And if she gets to go to jail, help her out by providing sometime of therapy or workshops…….a lot of money is being invested in things that are not really worth it. WHY NOT PROVIDE WORKSHOPS FOR PEOPLE OF OUR NATIONS TO BE BETTER CITIZENS.

  11. Proud Belizean says:

Funny….how she got money to pay her bail and need to steal to survive? I think someone rich is behind criminals because it dont matter how much the bail is, they still meet it.

What an example for her kids!

  12. BELIZEAN PRIDE says:

I THINK HER STEALINGS ARE NOT A POVERTY NEED IT’S SOME THING SHE LIKE TO DO NOW. so to my point of view she should be charged accordingly to her crime and pay her time in jail so as to avoid her from escalating into probably an assault at gun point. this woman need to be stopped before she commits something more than an assualt or roberry.

  13. Lords follower says:

Let me enlighten you, Her bail was a signed bail for $2,000.00 if she fails to appear in court then herself and the individual who posted her bail would both have to pay the fine of $2,000.00. Please Dean Barrow open doors of opportunity for our uneducated people. Give them something to do so that they can have pride in themselves and can be good role model to their children. If something isn’t done then you can expect that ten years down the line, the kids of these people will also be involved in petty crime as well as major criminal activities.

  14. macal rivera says:

Poverty did not cause this woman to steal casue is not the first time, her problem is just the others scum, they want easy money, these are lazy SOB, who need a good whipping and put them to clean the drains and pick up garbage on the highways, you can’t blame nobody but them cause that is the life they choose to live, and that is the example they want to set for their children, for if they would love their kids they wouold’nt live the life they live.

  15. HELLO says:

what a shame of that thing why she no go ask for work at least to go pick up dirt from the streets or find someone to help her find a descent job like cleaning bathrooms think before doing something like that you have young kids growing up show an example.it’s a shame women start thieving it a bad reputation for others.

  16. Charlotte Yearwood Martin says:

I am astonished by the calls to condemn her (with the exception of Becky, Manford and Lords follower). It reminds me of the story of the woman at Mount of Olives (John 8:1-30). A mother of three children at age 25 years, that is tough. No doubt the father(s) have happily skipped away to their next victims a long time ago. I am not making excuses; of course it is wrong that she’s going about robbing innocent people. Those of us with access to this forum via the Internet are the lucky ones. We can afford such luxury and we should show some compassion for those less fortunate in life.

What I would like to say to the young women in Belize is to stay in school and focus on getting a good education (minimum sixth form level). I can’t help but notice that the usual suspects are only too ready to make their comments against yet another wayward woman. I hope the same enthusiasm follow through to your own lives. Simple fact is that all little girls need their fathers. Remember, this is the very first relationship she will have with man. Therefore if a little girl is let her down by her father, constantly absent womanising, seem as lazy in her eyes, waste of space, then this is what she will have as her benchmark. SO! Rather than putting down women at every opportunity, go out there and talk to you male friends. Much of Belize’s ills can be solved with fathers really taking on their responsibilities. This is how we will help the single mothers who are living in poverty, stop the boys joining gang and stop vulnerable little girls being enticed with gifts by grown men who really should know better (opportunists). The first government that have in their manifesto to start prosecuting men who shirk from their responsibilities will have my vote. All studies highlight the damage cause by absent fathers should be enough to make it a key policy when it comes to safeguarding children well being and their future.

  17. Orlando says:

What about the kids father?. I wonder where he is at and what he have to say. Life is not a bed of roses and this woman just made her bed a little harder for the night, well I hope she can sleep on it and may she have wonderful dreams of freedom.

  18. simpson says:
