Team center, Keenan Jourdan, down but not out
Despite Belize’s loss in game two of the Centro Basket Tournament at the Palacio de Deportes in Santo Domingo earlier today the morale of our national team isn’t completely down. In fact one player on the team made no excuses for today’s lackluster match up against Mexico. As center Keenan Jourdan told News Five after the game the team remains focused on the road ahead to qualify for the Tournament of the Americas.

“Pretty much it was just a really bad shooting night for us. We couldn’t get anything to fall and they were pretty much in the same boat. In the second half the kid Harris, number five, he got hot and that allowed the other guys to get open. We just really didn’t have any answers tonight but put this one behind us. We got Cuba tomorrow; we’re still in the tournament. We get that Cuba game tomorrow that would be huge.”

“Now how do you move forward as a team at this point and as a player how do you get yourself out of this rut?”
Keenan Jourdan
“Simply just prepare for tomorrow you know. You gotta just put this game behind us, that’s the beautiful thing about basketball and this tournament. You know, we won the first one and we were on a high; we lost today, we’re a little bit low. Put it behind us we’re gonna play ‘til six so we’ll have plenty of time to rest. Just mentally prepare to get ready for the next game.”

“Now what do you say to the fans back home and any Belizean fan anywhere in the world?”
Keenan Jourdan
“Just keep the faith. Keep believing cause we believe.”

I am proud of team Belize. I will keep the faith and Keep charging
I am simply not a basketball fan, but it is nice to read in the belize news about the tournament instead of gun violence, I am sure that the guys are doing their best out there, hope they take home the gold.
