Ministry of Works employees is victim of another fatal accident
Within hours, the second accident claimed the life of a Ministry of Works employee, Sherman Williams, while he was operating an excavator at the same accident scene to remove the tow head. Here again is Marion Ali.
Marion Ali, Reporting
Thirty nine year old Sherman Williams, a Ministry of Works employee, was one of several people working to clear the road of the first accident scene when he became the victim. Williams was attempting to unload an excavator from a trailer that was attached to a tow head truck and upon reaching the tail of the trailer, the excavator reportedly slipped off the edge of the tow head and landed on its side, crushing Williams’ skull. Ministry of Works CEO, Cadet Henderson, says he feels that the second accident could have been avoided.
Cadet Henderson, CEO, Ministry of Works
“I think it was a case of human judgment, I’m not pointing at the operator; but collectively the team of people that were out here. Normally, we’d close the traffic so we have full access to the area in an accident like this. It may have been safer if we had exited with the equipment while it was in the middle of the road, rather than the shoulder where it is sloping. So removing the equipment on the shoulder it was certainly had a part to play in the incident. He was removing the equipment, which is an excavator from the low-boy, a higher low-boy, from the end of the low-boy, when it simply slide off. My understanding is that they believe some body parts from one of the deceased is still not located and may be with the trucs. So, as you can see the truck is still in the water and this equipment was brought to pull out this truck but it awaiting discharge.”
This was the third child that Williams’ ,Rosela Williams would lose, but the first to a traffic mishap.
Rosela Williams, Mother of Sherman Williams
“Ah never even know that ih mi gone and work. So umm, I tell my son-in-law that I want to go with him and see the body but they didn’t want me to go; but I still get to gone and when I went we turn back because they was coming. Mein, that was a shock to me.”

How many kids, he died left?
Rosela Williams
“He died left eleven kids, nine with his wife and two outside sons.”
Williams’ family was planning his funeral when we visited with them in Georgeville Village today. Marion Ali for News Five.

My condolement is imparted on the families that have suffer in these unsubtantial circumstances, may you all find peace and solice in the relm of Jesus Christ our saviour. No words can really expreses the sorrow that you all feel at the present moment, but know that god is the comfort and deliverance in any circumstances and may you all find family unity and love in this moment.
People in general need to take accountabiity for their actions, and its seem that the belizean population have lost self respect for oneself and the lack of self-esteem and dehumanizing of one character and environment thus contribute to the dimise of the society imbalance. Bring BELIZE back to its original glory and respect of one country.
Living abroad make you really realize what blessing you have or had of your early childhood parental quidance and sad to say that that is a disfunctional of our society essence. THANKS MOM for your stucture.
Once again my condolment to all families of this demised may god richly bless you all with his blessing.

my heart aches for the loss of my brother and not only mine but my whole family it was so shocking when i was the very first to be informed at home by his son nigel . i felt like ,it’s a feeling really hard to explain even up to today.he used to stop for me at home and we would go to work in belmopan we were so close, today passing all the hitchhikers on the road seeing everyone face makes me sad, sherman would stop for every single one he said everybody needs to reach their work , but my brother you will always be missed but not forgotten, and i know that you are in a better place. may god keep you safe until we meet. love always your sis
