Trial of Joseph Kee and Taedron Bennett adjourned … again
Meanwhile, in the Belmopan Supreme Court, the murder trial of Joseph Kee and Taedron Bennett was adjourned for October twenty-eighth, shortly after it got underway this morning. The two are facing charges for the murder of Kevin and Phillip Brannon. A jury of six women and six men was already empanelled when Justice Troadio Gonzalez said he will adjourn the trial based on discussions he had in chambers with Director of Public Prosecution, Cheryl-Lynn Branker-Tait and attorneys for the accused Richard Bradley, Ellis Arnold and Michael Peyrefitte. When asked why the trial was adjourned a second time in one week, the D.P.P. said she had no comments to make. The Brannon brothers were shot and killed early on the morning of May fourteenth, 2006 while they were in a car parked in front of their parents’ home on Albert Street West in Belize City. Another brother, Basil and a cousin were also shot but they survived. Kee and Bennett face additionally charges of Attempted Murder in respect of the survivors. A third man, Ricky Aguilar, was also charged but was later relieved of the charges.
