Viewers think current climate is risky for Belizeans for Justice
Death threats have been made to members of Belizeans for Justice, the anti-violence movement. Many of them are activists who have publicly decried the street violence and want sweeping changes at the top of the police force. On Tuesday we asked: Do you think that the organizers of Belizeans for Justice are putting their lives at risk by being vocal against crimes? Of the votes that rolled in on our e-poll, sixty-four percent of our viewers believe that the members of Belizeans for Justice should take the threats seriously. One viewer from our IMs commented (QUOTE) they are putting not only their lives but also the lives of their family members at risk, killers don’t care about age (END QUOTE). The other thirty-six percent of our viewers see no reason why the members of the organization should worry. The climate is risky but who are we to tell these victims and grieving mothers that they should stop there campaign. Their couragoeus movements will not be in vain, infact we should encourage their every move and be more vigilant in society and speak up about crimes we see rather than just staying quiet. Silence makes you a contributing factor to crime.
Lets stop telling these people what to do as their movements are fueled with rage of knowing that enough is enough. Martin Luther King and Malcom X knew the dangers of their believes but never did once did they revert from what they were doing. They sacrificed their lives to stop a global issue for the betterment of all. Like our Hero once said. Happiness comes from helping others and not thinking of only ones self.
And even though I think they are putting lives at risk, they need to continue what they are doing. The Belize Police Force just needs to continue providing security for the organization members.
We can’t stop now. That’s what the criminals want.
