G.O.B. asked to rethink scrapping Marion Jones Sporting Complex

On Thursday we reported that the Government of Belize intended to scrap the plans to build the Belize Sports Center at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex. This move by the government was a blow to sport fans who lack adequate facilities to train and develop sporting disciplines. Today that sentiment was echoed by The Belize Federation of Youth Ambassadors. The N.G.O. is comprised of youth activists from CARICOM, United Nations, and the Commonwealth. According to a release from the B.F.Y.A., criminal activity, drug use and reckless behavior are rampant and the Marion Jones Sporting Complex would have fostered discipline, respect and a healthy lifestyle. The Belize Federation of Youth Ambassadors calls on the Government of Belize to re-consider its decision.
