The PM’s impromptu departure

Prime Minister Dean Barrow flew to Miami today after reportedly taking a personal leave from his duties as head of government.  His sudden departure is causing much speculation but we can confirm that the P.M. will be back on Saturday before his party’s national convention which is scheduled for Sunday in Orange Walk Town.

  8. The Educated One says:

Even President Obama takes breaks. Give the man a break. Good job or Bad job, people need breaks. You all are putting him on a beach with a drink….*rolling my eyes* *smh*….obviously none of you have been in a position of leadership, definetly not at that level.

When YOU look in the mirror and find NO fault/flaw with you or your character…throw the stone. Until then, there is NONE good BUT God. Instead of talking about him and speculating, pray for his safe return and that he does what is RIGHT for the Belizean people. Pray.

  9. Ras says:

Belize will not change nor improve at all unless we the people make it happen, it starts inside the home of each Belizean, before we blame anyone we should first look at ourselves and try to find ways in which we can improve our country.

  10. The Red One says:

Wow…all this hate cause the PM had to take a trip to MIA. When Ralph was back and forth to Panama and Montevideo, none of you had anything to say.

  11. Tim says:

UDP CONVENTION IS GONNA BE BIG!!!

  12. Elgin Martinez says:

The Educated One: If you were educated then you wouldn’t have problem with othe people’s opinion.People are free to voice their opinion hence the reason Channel 5 made this blog available. That’s the reason why changes will not come to Belize anytime soon.By the way the Citizens of Belize have every right to criticize the PM he’s travelling on tax payers money.

  13. bold says:

Very valid comments here…except for tim and his nonesense convention comment.

  14. belizeanpride says:

i think in my opinion is that with the caos we’re in belize the P.M should not be taking sudden vacation trips out of the country, if he does so for the reason of stress , first of all he knew that this is part of the job so why run away when we need him most to try settle the conflict we the regular belizeans are facing everyday. secondly if it’s the reason of just getting away for he’s own personal interest at least he should let the press or media show it on t.v so people won’t be making comments that might end in many speculation. if he would do so then people will be more aware what is happening when he goes out, and the outrage would be minum.

  15. Bulba Martinez says:

Hon. Prime Minister, all good things must come to an end. Have a good time while the grass is green, just remember that we the Belizean people are crying. Can you imagine all these tears falling down on you?. You do deserve a vacation whether it is for business or personal reasons. I hope for your sake that you use this time wisely for the benefit of our people. For you Tim, damn the convention, are you enjoying some of the political juice?. Ras, I deh wid you but we noh hafto bow down to fu dehn level. After all, some of us need to take some sense of responsibility for what is happening to us through out the country of Belize. Prior to elections, some people got bribed with $100.00 and a Turkey for their votes and this is usually the outcome. The only one we can trust in our situation is GOD. “Six a one and half a dozen a the other”.

  16. rod says:

  17. cutty Ligiyaba says:

I am very happy that the prime minister took this time out to look in, and by looking in, I mean getting out of the country. Its not the prime minister’s fault that the country is the way it is, remember he has a lot of people who are delegated to do their duties. With that being said, I now ask that each one who are Belizean and do Belizean business start on themselves. The laws can only be effective if it works for The Belizean society and right now there are laws but they are not effective or even implemented….just like the big stink in Arizona USA on immigration reform.

  18. de Jamaican says:

  21. Earl Grey says:

The (third) party that won BELMOPAN……… They need to step up. The time is right!!!!

  22. Ms. Reality says:

I don’t think our Prime Minister needs any tax payers money to travel on. I think our Country has been in this shape for the past 7 years. Please do not blame our Prime Minister for the shape our Country is in. He was voted in because the people wanted a change from the previous government, and change does not come over night. Change takes time. There is no way a change can come in just one year and a half, and the Prime Minister cannot do it on his own. As far as I can remember these killings and Belizeans crying didn’t just start since our current government was voted in. This has been going on for quite some time. Instead of pointing fingers we need to educate ourselves more and try and understand what it is like to run a Country that was handed to you with no funds because of mismanagement from the previous government. Since we all want whats best for us and our Country, we need to ask ourselves what we can do for our country, not what our country can do for us! Stop blaming our Prime Minister and get out and do something about it! If you don’t like what’s going on then don’t talk about it, be about it!!!!
