Darien Banks freed once again of latest criminal charges
He has an extensive rap sheet but has never been convicted and today thirty-one year old Darien Banks walked away from another set of charges. And like in many other cases that are thrown out, the reason was a lack of evidence. The Director of Public Prosecutions, Cheryl-Lynn Branker-Taitt, withdrew two counts of Keeping Unlicensed Ammunition and one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug against Banks this morning. Those charges were as a result of four rounds of live ammunition and thirty-six grams of cannabis allegedly found in his yard on April third of 2008. Banks pleaded not guilty to the charges, but police claim they conducted the search and made the discovery in his presence. And while today’s charges were withdrawn, Banks is still on remand because he has a case of Conspiracy to Commit Murder pending in court. Banks is accused of firing several shots at Richard Russell on Central American Boulevard in October of 2008.
