Faber shares his ambitions to climb the political ladder
Earlier we told about Sunday’s U.D.P. convention which elected Patrick Faber, as chairman defeating John Saldivar by a huge margin. Faber had just assumed his post when he indicated that he has ambitions to climb the political ladder. He says he envisions himself effectively filling the post while still keeping his ministerial duties, but it will take the help of key players. But if you were wondering what ambitions the new chairman has in mind, well he made it no secret that he wants to become party leader.
Patrick Faber, New Chairman, UDP
“I want to make sure that when I inherit this party of when I take on the leadership of this party, that it is a solid, great party – not that it isn’t now, don’t get me wrong. But we will continue to build it so that it will even be a greater party whenever that time comes around, should it come around.”
Marion Ali
“You said under you you’d make sure that there were measures taken to ensure that it benefits people across the board. How will you ensure that? We’ve heard that kind of talk before.”
Patrick Faber
“You’re right but you have seen how I have managed the Ministry of Education. And while people will say that’s one aspect of the issues that face people out there, it is the very same kind of principles that I will apply, systems that I will apply to this party. We need to listen to people, we need to move around the country and listen to the various areas of this country, the different constituencies, listen to what their concerns are and then as a party build policies that we will then pass on to the Government so that we can take care of these issues that affect the country. I don’t think it’s a difficult job to do at all. Our country is very small.”
“Leadership is about making policy and making decisions. You surround yourself with good, decent people. You check my standard in the Ministry of Education, that’s what we do. We have good, capable, competent people working in that Ministry, and then we just have to give guidance and direction. That is the same thing we intend to do with the chairmanship of the U.D.P. I move around this country, to all the corners of this country already as Minister of Education and it will take not much more off me to, when I am in those areas of the country, call in the leaders of the party, call in the mechanism of the party and to check to see that it’s working properly.”
And he STEPPED ON THE GRAVE OF CHARLES GOODE……… How could we forget???
[“Leadership is about making policy and making decisions. You surround yourself with good, decent people.”] This is actually very true, similar to what Obama and other smart political leader do, all the ministers should have very competent advisors. Talking about making policies, the most important thing is implementing the policies; Belize has many policies which are ignored. In reality, the biggest issue is nepotism, hiring unqualified ‘friends’.. but nepotism will never be stopped because everyone likes having people you can ‘trust’ amongst you, so lets work on hiring qualified ‘friends’ at least.. tell your unqualified friends that they can’t do the job.. you think they don’t know?

Faber is too arrogant to be a real leader…he will only abuse those below him.
Patrick seems a good politician but needs to mature more. not only a politician but as a leader. Couple weeks ago at the mexican border ( you all can stop by at the mexican immigration ask about it) Mr. Faber behave arrogant inmature and showed the a type of leader not to be subject to the rule of law. He was asked to fill the new mexican transit form ( like any Visiting person to mexico- diplomats too) and refused, made clown of him self, trying to intimate the immigaration officer in mexico, later driving canceling his trip to chetumal returning home like a rude kid not obeying rules. Patrick grow old. Recall what happend to Hon Marcel when he was arrested in chetumal and trying to intimate the office….lucky for Faber the immigration guy is a cool person.
I wonder how many other Head of Countries give position in their Government to friends and family? Belize we can safely say is one of them.
yup sure Belize is # 1 on the list ….i bet we all need to start being friends with politians i order for us to advance in this country,,,so that they can manipulate into what exactly needs to be done
We certainly don’t want more city Prime Minister, out district is tired of it! & certainly, Faber is the real reflection of arrogant Barrow!
We see …. right before our very eyes……….POWER CORRUPTS!!!!!
