Hard times cause woman to steal from grocery store

jade lopez

They say desperate times call for desperate measures; that must have been the case when four women decided to steal food from the Ladyville Community Store at mile nine on the Northern Highway. Fermina Jimenez, Jade Lopez, Marina Pott and Augustina Diaz were all caught on surveillance camera on July twenty-ninth, but today in court, only Lopez pleaded guilty to the charge of Theft. Lopez told the court that she stole the groceries because she had no money. But that was not the best solution since the food items, valued at two hundred and fourteen dollars, now cost her one thousand dollars. Lopez has until October twenty-ninth to pay the fine or she will spend a year in prison. Meanwhile, the other three women were freed of the charge. The women were caught in a Toyota car along with Israel Hernandez, a farmer, who was charged with Handling Stolen Goods. Hernandez is now out on bail of two thousand five hundred dollars.

This woman is not a very bright criminal. Didn’t she realize that you have to commit murder to avoid jail time? Robbing because you are hungry is a sure path to incarceration, Dickie Bradley won’t help you now m’am.

Too me its bad what these people are doing .its detrimental to their personality. However it also proves what i always seems true. Stop punish people from petty offences and for the big fishes. Charge all then area reprensentatives and then white collars ministers with money laundering theft, etc. And its a pity that these ladies didnt hired the law firm of the prime minister. Other wise most definately they would have been freed.

  4. BZNinCALI says:

Fry jack, tortilla, johnny cake, powder bun, stew beans & rice, plantain are more filling than the dutch cheese & stuff that she & the other people who were with her stole. She does not look underfed & if the driver of the truck can afford gas, they had enough money to buy some food staples & put their lazy behinds in the kitchen.

  5. Mark Pecho says:

These ladies are from my constituency and are lazy. They have been caught a number of times shoplifting in many different stores both in Belize and Chetumal in Mexico. That is part of their trade and should be penalized to the maximum according to the law. The court should request for a history of past charges and should charged and fined them accordingly.
