Accused rapist to present his own defense in Supreme Court

Leroy Gomez

In September, 2008, Leroy Gomez was accused in six rapes and attempted rapes which were carried out with similar patterns and the victims gave comparable descriptions of the suspect. Gomez is currently on trial for one of those sexual crimes; on August twenty-third 2008, a woman was raped at knifepoint, while her friend was forced to watch. In the past week of hearings, Prosecutor Christelle Wilson called ten witnesses to testify against Gomez before closing her case late this evening. Gomez, who is unrepresented, is to submit his defense on Thursday morning. The twenty-two year old victim and her eighteen year old friend were heading home from after a night of partying, when they were forced into an abandoned house where the assault occurred.  The victim was then robbed and left inside the house while her friend ran to a neighbor’s home for help. After being pinpointed in an identification parade, Gomez was charged with Rape, Robbery and Aggravated Assault.

When will men in Belize stop seeing women as just sex object. They have no respect for women not only with rape, but they have two three women at the same time. Belize women need to have more respect for themselves too an stop letting these no good men and boys treat them like dirt.

One of the victims said that she begged him not to rape her as she knew him.
Contrary to Earl Grey, my advice to you: just drop your soap!

@ Al, let it be known, that anyone can be a rape victim. Rapist do not only target women/men that are Promiscuous or wear revealing clothing. Let it be known that it is deeper than that. These rapist have a serious mental problem. What they get turned on by, is the sense of control; the fact that they have some POWER over you. Note that there are 3 primary emotions that motivate rapists, 1.anger, 2.power and 3.sadism. Before you talk Al think about what the victims are feeling: Victims of rape can be severely traumatized by the assault and may have difficulty functioning as well as they used to prior to the assault, with disruption of concentration, bad sleeping patterns, eating habits and difficulty remembering all the details of the rape. They may feel jumpy or be on edge. After being raped it is common for the victim to experience Stress Disorder. What you are doing is partial “Victim blaming”, Which is holding the victim of a crime to be in whole or in part responsible for the crime. Think before speaking…. ~Tee
