Manhunt for babysitter who burned child with clothing iron
It’s an atrocious offense by any measure. A two-year old is suffering from burn injuries allegedly inflicted by a babysitter. The incident made the news on Wednesday but it happened sometime before three on Monday afternoon. There is a manhunt for the woman who is believed to have used a clothing iron on the baby she was caring for. News Five’s Marion Ali headed west to get some answers and she filed this report.

San Ignacio Police are looking for this woman, thirty three year old Melanie Moody who is wanted for Harm and related charges after she allegedly used a hot clothing iron to burn a two year old baby. This is Baby Adrian Lisbey, a friendly two-year old baby boy, who was also very playful when we visited with him today in San Ignacio. But a closer look at him shows the sings of cruelty inflicted when the person took an iron to burn him on the hands, legs, back of the neck and abdomen. Crispula Lisbey, told News Five today that she left her baby with Moody on Monday at her home on Domingo Cruz Street.

“She came to my work at three o’clock and told me that my baby had a small cut on his leg. She told me it’s nothing that I should worry about. So I was still wasn’t satisfied and I told her how come and she told me she accidentally left on the iron and the baby went to interfere with it. I saw it wasn’t something small at all, it was something big, it had big, big blisters and when I looked there he had another and I said this is not an accident at all. Then afterwards I saw his eyes was bruised I said no, no, no, dis dah noh wah accident.”
Baby Adrian’s parents took him first to the San Ignacio Town Hospital and then to La Loma Luz Private Hospital. Pediatrician at Loma Luz, Dr. Byron Sierra, treated Baby Adrian for second degree burns.

“I found in several parts of the body and close to the neck and the thighs and legs and some that was close to the abdomen and apart from that he has an edema, a swelling on the – I don’t remember if was the right or left foot, but the baby had signs of probably physical abuse.”
Melanie Moody reportedly accompanied the baby and his mother to the hospital but it was while doctors called the police that Lisbey said Moody disappeared.
The baby’s father, David Molina says he never imagined that the woman they had known and trusted for four years would hurt his son that badly.

“This is not an accident, definitely. This is a person who was taking care of the child. I would have never expect this person to ever do something like this to a two year old baby.”

The baby’s parents are asking you to help locate Melanie Moody, who remains at large. They are also asking the police to bring the full extent of the law when dealing with Moody. Marion Ali for News Five.
Police are now looking into the possibility that Moody may have already crossed the western border.
What happened to this toddler was horrible, someone burned him but I’m not sure it will be any clearer after the sitter is arrested. Gasoline irons went out a long time ago & I want to know what was really done to his lower leg.
If the stories about the sitter’s drug use & questionable parenting skills are true, keep an eye on her supplier. If she burnt this baby, she belongs in jail but it is unbelievable that the parents who have known this woman for four years did not know that she was an addict . I wish the baby a speedy recovery.
Melanie was abusing this child long before she inflicted these burns to his body, unfortunately, the signs went unnoticed nad has come down to this.
if it was an accident she would not be on the run right now, catch her and deal with this sick child abuser.

Babysister Melanie Moody will be judged by her actions and running away suggests just one simple thing…GUILTY. Its a shame but in today’s rough times both parents usually work and its a hard decision to leave your loved one in the hands of supposed trusted persons. Melanie will face justice if not today then tomorrow…
They should put a reward for her capture….so that people without a job can earn some money finding her….

i agree with PROUD let the police put a reward offer to who so ever bring correct info of her where a bout since the police need help from the people let they bring a inniciative that will make people more comfortable dealing with the police. things like these might help solve crimes in our situation right now.

wow. i was shocked to see this news happening in my area. this girl accused is in fact a known “Crack head” so i cant explain how parents would entrust the life of their young one to such a person. her boyfriend or man is also a “Crack head”. it is just amazing what goes on in our own neck of the woods.

I just wanted to say “Thank You” for all you do. It’s amazing … and frightening how evil and manipulative people can be. Unfortunately this is nothing new as history keeps repeating itself. I think what troubles me the most are the “sheeple” the people who have not learned this and trust everything that they are told.
