Police say possible links between Oleander Street murders
Belize City police are tonight still looking for suspects in the shooting deaths of thirty-five year old Shelmadine Sanchez and her neighbor Ivan Francis, both of Oleander Street in the Saint Martin‘s area. While the incidents are being investigated separately authorities are not ruling out the possibility of linkages between the weekend slayings. The Friday night murder of Sanchez has sparked rumors that she was shot because she witnessed the killing of Dennis Nembhard, an area resident, a year ago following an altercation between his twelve year old nephew and another minor. Sanchez was scheduled to testify in court against the accused murderer, nineteen year old Emerson Eaghan, who has been rearrested and remanded to the Hattieville Prison for the murder of Nembhard. Ivan Francis, who was also shot and killed two days later, is said to have witnessed the murder of Shelmadine Sanchez. A motive for his murder, as we mentioned previously, has not been formally ascertained. The fifty-six year old welder was found on Monday morning in a kneeling position inside his workshop on Oleander Street with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the neck.
Our parents die, we cry, our children die, we cry even harder. When we start killing old men, middle aged men, young men & women of childbearing age we do not just mourn our dead, we become extinct.. Brothers, wake up!
So when will there be mass arrests? The Police know who they are, but won’t do a thing about it!
Time for a lock-down & curfew. Time to increas Stop & search, and search suspects homes. Cordon off an area and search, arrest anyone trying to get away or resisting the search. Lock them away in Hattieville – NO BAIL!!!! 24/7 with lo let up. Make them afraid to walk the streets for a change!!!!
Time for the Police and their Minister to show some balls, and fight back. Make those criminal scum (And thier families, who live off the proceeds of crime) lives a living hell!! Take them and their guns off the streets once & for all!
Maybe the Government should install some cameras around thw witnesses home.Technology is so advance now that even your phone can be used as a tool to solve crimes. Most phones these days are equipt wit cameras. Some of these witnesses also got to start thinking proactive.YOu know you are a witness to a crime then cammon sense would tell you that you’ve got to be more aware of your surroundings.

Here is a suggestion. Start deposing witnesses and video tape them at the Prosecutor’s Office. Let this evidence be admissible in the courts, especially in a case where it seems obvious that people are being targeted for their witness potential! Something needs to work as these kiilings cannot go unabated!
