Hope Creek kids get school bags through Red Cross
Tropical Storm Arthur hit southern Belize on June first, precisely on the day the hurricane season opened. Communities in the area are still recovering from the devastating effects of the storm and yesterday the children of Hope Creek received school bags courtesy of the U.S. government. The bags were handed over to the kids through the efforts of the Belize Red Cross as part of its drive to assist affected families. A release today from the Red Cross says that one thousand five hundred bags were purchased with funds granted by the U.S. to be distributed in the Corozal, Orange Walk and Stann Creek Districts. The Red Cross delegation was led by Lily Bowman and the U.S. representative on hand was Sharon Featherstone.
