Gunman riddles home on Police Street with bullets

A barrage of gunshots was unleashed on a small house which was occupied mostly by children and three adults on Wednesday night in Belize City.  It occurred in an unnamed area off Police Street in Lake Independence. Luckily no one was hurt.  News Five spoke to a neighbour who said that the children in the house, including her own, ranged in ages from six to twelve.  She wished, however, to have her identity concealed because of fear since her family members can identify the shooter.

Senseless idiots. No respect to life anymore. GODS has their rewards coming…

I have lost count of the number of shootings in this area in the past month & almost all of them came after a call was made to the victim or one of these psychos showed up & told a parent that they were about to lose a child. There is no question that being a witness can be deadly but staying quiet is not helping this family, it is just by the grace of God that no one has been killed in that house yet & there is no reason to believe that this will be the end of it.

Mr Pitts, Mr Singh talk to us, tell us how you think you can combat this form of terror.

Although the victim did not comment on the reason that her house was under fire, I find it amazing that nine people adults and kids live in that house, those kids are no doubt tramatized by them being targets.
And since it is not the fist time the house came under fire it is abvious that someone want them dead and next time they just might get lucky.

Take your family and go into hiding.

Its well known that for every action there is equal or greater force of reaction. I see no real reaction to all thie gun violence except the shooting are becomiing more frequent. How about trying the following tactic to see what kind of result it produce? Set up an account at the bank where every Belizean can deposit one dollar per month and use those funds to pay for turning in anyone that has an illegal firm arm. Designate a trusted person to receive the information and pass it to the police. If the gun is found with the person, the fee is paid, no question ask, collect the money and be on your way. Is $12.00 a year worth you security? Come up with a catchy slogan like: MAKE A CALL SAVE A LIFE.

These people are also part of the violence. They know who is responsible for the shooting and as the woman mentioned, they have their people too, “everybody have people”. So obviously they also condone the violence and as a result also put their own kids in danger. Not to mention that under these situations, the future of these kids look very grim.

If something happens to these kids, their own family is to blame as well.

Rough…its a shame innocents kids are caught in the middle of this senseless warfare…

  7. belizeanpride says:

damn! lucky the kids never get shot but can the minister or someone political do somethings cause it’s irrating to see there’s no control on these shooting, nobody from the law seems to come up with a brilliant idea as how to stop this craziness.

first of all ler it be known te many of the Chinese that came to Belize in the 1940’s and fifties married local women, especially the ones that were in then Stann Creek. They got along very wll with locals especially those local that like to gamble. But when it come to socializing in take on many different faces. The old saying that birds of one feather flock together is very real when it come socializing. For instance, I notice that many Belizean changed their company of socializing when they moved to the USA . I found some socialing with fellow Belizeans in the USA that they would not normally socialize with while in Belize. Most Belizean socialized for specific set purpose and they take it for granted that others are of the same mind set.

As for the strangers thatcome to our shores, we are the one that should offer a hand of welcome and offer to genuinely render assistance if needed, not to see how we can rip off the unsusopected stranger as unfortunately is the case many too often. as for what appear to be business success by the new Indian and Chinese, these individuals has business support in Miami, Panama and Hong Kong that extends credits to them. Many years ago I asked a Chinese friend why is it that they like the business of restaurant and food store, his answer was, man must eat. Us creole must face up to the fact that we are a haughty buch with much arrogants and stupid empty pride. I agree with the Chinese who cited how they are been spoken to, and we think nothing of it. The attitude is, you are in my country and you need me.

I said it before and I’ll say it again in this Forum, “where there is no vison the people perish”. We want to bake our cake and eat it at all times. Anywhere in the world you go and see Chinese they seem to have one thing in common, work hard. They are discipline. Find out whatb the Chinese suffered in the United States of America in the early days, but they took it with much patients and built their communities and regain their dignity. How many of them do we see in the white man prison? They know how to keep their family united no matter what the environment is that they find themselves in.

How about the Hindo? they also know how to keep their family together. Go to UK and see what they have done inspite of the suttle racism of the Brits. I’ve always mantain that I can’t force someone to love me, but by the way I conduct myself I’m bound to gain respect. I have associated with many different ethnic race of my fellow man in many parts of the world. As for the person who said that the Chinese is the best organized in Belize, its obvious that he has forgotten all about the Minonites comminities. In closing let me state, The next time you come in contact with a new commer to Belize, tell him/her/ them: WELCOME TO BELIZE; instead of looking to see how you can take advantage.
