Hit and run victim dies on the Northern Highway
The traffic flow was briefly interrupted on the Northern Highway just after midnight on Saturday as police processed the scene of a fatal hit and run incident. It happened in front of Roses Paper Products near mile three and claimed the life of nineteen year old Donald Ansensio, a Guatemalan national living in Belize City. Ansensio was reportedly riding a beach cruiser bicycle towards Belize City and was carrying thirty nine year old Santos Moreira when a vehicle struck them from behind. Police are now looking for a black pick up truck and the driver who did not stop to render aid. Ansensio died at the scene but Moreira suffered injuries not considered life-threatening and is in stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
Drivers have to drive with care at all times!
Highway accidents are down, perhaps people are driving with care and consideration for the next driver, anyway that was good news, till now.
I can understand how difficult it is to drive at night on those highways in Belize, people are walking or cycling along those roads without any warning signs that they are they as well.
You are driving, then suddenly in the dark a person pops up, or a cyclist, or a dog, very dangerous.
Best of luck Moreira, lets help to find the pick-up that commited this crime.
This sucks!
It is sad when accidents occur. But there is no excuse for not stopping and rendering aid. Doing so could save someone’s life.
Oh shocks! i am so sorry for the family. hope the person who comited this act pay for it in the end, they are so heartless! they hurt a person and their family too.
