Shooting victim/PM’s law partner, Rodwell Williams recovering

rodwell williams

Belize City lawyer, Rodwell Williams, and law partner of the prime minister, who was critically injured during an execution attempt while leaving his law firm, Barrow and Williams, on Albert Street on June first, is on the road to recovery.  Fifty-three year old Williams, was shot once by two assailants while walking towards his vehicle in an adjacent parking lot.  Williams was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida where he has been undergoing treatment since the shooting.  Williams’ initial prognosis was slim as local doctors said he needed to undergo several delicate surgeries to survive the shooting.  Today News Five spoke with Prime Minister Barrow who gave an update on the progressive recovery of his partner.

Voice of: Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“He’s doing very well indeed. All things considered, he is now able to speak for extended periods. He is able to get about with a walker. He’s been out of the intensive care unit for maybe two weeks now or just under two weeks and he is undergoing physical therapy. As I said, he is even able to move with the aid of a walker.”

Two Belize City men have since been charged for the attempted murder of the lawyer.  They are twenty-seven year old Ricky Valencia and eighteen year old Akeem Thurton.  Both men are scheduled to appear in court this Tuesday to answer charges.

Good news. Money & being the PM’s buddy does have its privileges. Who is paying the bill? The taxpayers?

  3. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

maybe by the time Rodwell, the PM best friend made a full recovery and back in Belize the Pm will have already excuted a great plan to lower the crime rate in Belize.
Afterall, barrow don’t only need to protect the rest of the belizean people but his friends as well from gun slingers.

  4. egbert says:

    Gun slingers? In belize ??

Belize is a JEWEL !! Only those bad & poor people on the southside are killing each other.

Crime is decreasing according to statistics.

Land of the Gods by the carib sea

  6. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

    Crime is decreasing?
Lets tell that piece of news to those who have lost their loves to gun violence, etc.
They tell us that so that we can sleep good at night.

  7. South Sider says:

We all know who the biggest gun slinger is…come on you all do think it is any surprise that andre trapp head of ssg, the people who carried out the hit , got shot infront of the courts…THAT WAS A STATEMENT!!! The police were at this guys house str8 everyday since that shooting of the lawyer, how many people get shot everyday and the police hardly care what happens to them but as soon as it is someone with power and or influence look out someone will surely pay and not just pay but suffer dearly.

  8. BZNinCALI says:

egbert, Wake up & smell the blood & gunpowder. Two men were shot, one killed in front of KHMH, two wounded on Victoria St last weekend, two mechanics were shot near Cinderella Plaza, one died, I can go on!! This bloodshed occurred on the north side within the last month. Belize City has a problem, pretending it is a south side problem devalues every life in what was once a safe city.

Belize keeps getting worst every time, the climate, hotter than in the 1980;sbad roads, etc, and all this calamities is because belize is ruled by criminals with a lawdegree called lawyers.lets face it belizeans..the pup and udp are a criminal organization,by the way,you notice how poor belizeans lack good health care?but belize leaders fly to USA for medical treatment..who pays the bills?bet this WILLIMAS bill will be payed by the UDP,thats a crime commited right their!

  13. mammy's Diva says:

i guess that if the gun men(man) take a hit on the PM’s wige and family then he would realize how we the poor people are feeling. defiantely then he will bring back corporal punishmenet and think about the people of belize includi=ing his very own. So Mr. Sorrow Borrow think and do what is right for the people of Belize don’t wait tii things get more worst than it already is think MR. BARROW THINK ABOUT US.

  14. Earl Grey says:

    See…… GOD DOES ANSWER PRAYERS…………

  15. GWHT says:

I agree with all of above. Barrow only cares about friends and family
