Salvadoran who robbed Minister of State appears in court

Story PictureTwenty-nine year old Salvadoran national Roberto Carlos Alvarez, who pleaded guilty to burglarizing the house of Minister of State, Michael Hutchinson and was to be sentenced today, will have to wait until October first to know his fate. Alvarez maintained the guilty plea he made on Wednesday, when he appeared in court today. Sentencing was deferred because Chief Magistrate McKenzie sensed there was something peculiar about the case. Alvarez was also charged with Handling Stolen Goods but that charge was withdrawn after the prosecution accepted his guilty plea. His victim, Hutchinson, reported that he was at his Mitchell Estate home sleeping, when he was awakened by his daughter between twelve-thirty and two-thirty in the morning of September twenty-second. According to Hutchinson, his daughter told him that someone had removed two glass louvers from her bedroom window and when he checked, he confirmed that indeed the louvers had been removed. Hutchinson also found out that his Motorola Razor cell phone was missing and that the back door of his house was open. The following day, police detained Alvarez, searched him and found Hutchinson’s cell phone.
