Victim has amnesia; however, convicted serial rapist stays behind bars

The previous time Leroy Gomez was in court on August eighth, he was sentenced to twenty-two years in prison for Rape. But there were other charges of Attempted Rape and Robbery against Gomez, who has been dubbed the serial rapist so he was back in the Supreme Court today. The twenty-three year old got lucky this time when the charges were dismissed because his would be victim had a case of amnesia. Before a jury was selected, the complainant asked to take the stand and told the court that she did not want to proceed with the matter since she does not remember what happened.  While her memory failed her, back in 2008, the woman gave police a vivid description of her attacker and how the incident transpired. She initially claimed that she was walking home at around three a.m. on August thirtieth and when she reached the corner of Police Street Extension and Lacriox Street, she noticed Gomez trailing her. He allegedly held her at knifepoint, removed her underwear and tried to force himself on her. But the victim managed to escape and took off running. Gomez reportedly chased after her but a taxi driver intervened. The woman was also allegedly robbed of a small amount of cash during the ordeal.

    Shame? Family pressure? Intimidation?

Whatever the victims reasons are, I hope she remembers that whenever this fool is released, he will still be young enough to use the same weapon & there is no reason to believe that she will be any safer then.

I agree with u guys, I think she was threatened n felt her life would b in danger if she testified, n with the way witnesses r falling, I can understand her perspective, the police aren’t offering any protection for these witnesses. She may have been raped n been unable to stop that but I think she is trying to do something by doing nothing in regards to being killed for testifying

Again the victim is being victimized. Those crimminal on payroll r protecting one of their own. When i was in primary school in benque viejo town i remember the student companion book. One of its phrase reads like this”. A number of police is called a squad.” 2 me its wrong in belize. It should be upgraded and i quote.””a number of police in belize should be crimminals on payroll.or gangsters.
