WE NEED A REVOLUTION TO CELEBRATE TOO……

Tell him not to rush back, unless he plans to do sometning….. ANYTHING, INSTEAD OF BEING A LUMP ON A LOG.

  2. Elgin Martinez says:

It’s ashame how the Pm and his wife can be travelling so frequently on Belizean tax-dollars and yet complain about a bad economy.Furthermore Why intransit Miami to get to Mexico City. Why not just take the bus to chetumal and take a flight from there to Mexico City?Wouldn’t that make more sense since the economy is in a bad state?Apparently the economy is good at the Barrow’s residence.

  3. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

Look like the Pm is off to indulge himself with some history’s art in Mexico over the weekend, haha.

Pm is going to take a beating for spending the weekend in Mexico, so make it worth every cent .
    Have a great weekend PM.

  4. Corozalboy says:

funny and outrageous! it is much cheaper and shorter to travel from Chetumal airport to Mexico City airport! It is good if the Mexican government is paying for the flights, but if its from the Belizean tax money, well their logistic planning are !”·$%

  5. rod says:

here we go again another vacation that is not necessary while people are dying in the streets this pm is wasting the poor belizeans tax dollars again this is about the sixth vacation this year come on this is no time to be vacationing while people are dying all over the country, crime is rampant ,economy in the drain, education in the drain, tourism in the drain, exports in the drain, corruption is rampant no wonder the country is going down down downnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn the leader is never here to take care of business hope while you are in miami again you take time to reflect on all the poor belizeans that are being killed on a daily basis.shameful pitifullllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.

  8. ruby carrasquillo says:

I think the PM is trying to copy the Obama’s……just like Michelle visited Mexico recently, now he wants to follow . Please…it is ridiculous! He should use this trip to negotiate the renovation of the airport and the Santa Elena border entry…shame on our country, you see the huge difference as soon as you cross the border, no wonder he would not take the highway to Mexico!!!! There has been no major changes in our highways for the last 10 years…

  9. belizeanpride says:

barrow please don’t comeback till we need you since you’re not capable of doing your work as a p.m better stay there while we find a belizean pancho villas here to start a revolution when you come to belize we’ll send you flying like zelaya. belizeans do we need our wannabe p.m or not? is he worth while to comeback better stay there and chat with calderon about how the cartels are doing good business and learn more about politricks in mexico.

  10. Belmex says:

Mexico will be commemorating its bi-centennial Independence and centennial anniversary of the revolution with the presence of dignitaries from all over Latin America and North America. It is inevitable that representatives from Belize would be attending these festivities.

The way this story is presented to us make me question, why? Having recently attempted to travel from Mexico City to Chetumal or Cancun to Belize with great difficulty due to scheduling, I realise that travelling between the two countries, is not straightforward.

Perhaps more than anything it really just highlights the poor transportation links we have with our neighbouring Countries. To prove a point I’ve checked for flights between Belize and Mexico CIty and every travel agents suggested flights via a city in North America or even San Salvador. So I believe those of you suggesting Chetumal to Mexico City have never done this before. Surely we don’t expect the PM as a statesman turning up to these celebrations with other dignitaries by BUS (a travel time of an entire day). Now tell me, which other country’s leader would be expected to do this?

What would you say if he would have hired private jet which would have been most convenient but more costly to the people of Belize. Travelling by a commercial aircraft really should not have caused this reaction. Most world leader would have taken such opportunity to use their military aircraft to travel to this event, perhaps the people of Belize would prefer if the PM did that. In this way he would have arrived in Mexico hassle free.

Objective criticism is how we make improvement and raise standards, however there is nothing this man does which is good enough for some people. These said people spend their time spreading their venoms days after days. It is my opinion that they are being paid to do this and so go ahead. In fact I sincerely hope that this is case, as having such bitterness in your heart must be soul destroying. The negativity also shows in your face and make you an ugly person. Smile, be happy, have pleasant thought, cleanse your soul, go tell you master your tired of spreading propaganda, and ask him for a promotion.

  11. Disappointed says:

Must be nice………..next life I will come back as a Barrow in Belize since that is what it takes to live a good, safe life in Paradise.

  12. orange walk says:

It doesn’t matter who the pm is it’s the same thing all of them want to travel in style as long they don’t spend their money out of pocket but it is going to have good relation with Mexico but he should put his people first and do better thing for Belize what we need is fresh people running the country and take all does old guys out of the politics i think that they already have stolen enough money in their pocket for retired.

  13. Global Perspective says:

Belmex: Excellent observation, I too wondered the motivation behind the way the story was presented. Indeed why isn’t the PM making use of the BDF, if this is a possibility. If we don’t have military plane, then buy one (a bit of mischief, he, he!). The regulars on here would complain either way. Why travel via the United States on a commercial flight, when you could have been there in no time and in style by hiring a jet or using the BDF, I like this idea, Belmex.

On a serious note though, These people who suggested that he travelled by bus, clearly does not understand the role of a PM and the esteem deserving of the office. The PM and diplomats abroad represents us. I can’t imagine the man turn up to the ceremonies, 10 minutes late because the bus broke down and ih shirt mash-up since he was sat in it for almost 24 hours. Come on guys open your minds allow yourself to develop, let stop thinking small.

The older people in Belize have a saying “play with puppy, puppy lick yu mouth”. In other countries their leaders are revered, the office of the PM regardless of which administration in Belize seems not to be respected at all.

  14. FadaOrson says:

I so Agree with Elgin Martinez.

  15. Stephen says:

Elgin just to let you know that you should respect our PM as no matter what he is the head of our country. People like you need to go to common sense school put there is none so keep on being stupid. We need our leaders to travel in order to let the country be recognized so I would even give my paycheck to help even doe I am a PUP. Election is over they won so be a Belizean and love our Prime minister.Quit being stupid and let’s move forward.

  16. Carlos trujillo says:

As a response 2 the person who is defending dean barrow better go and 1/2 a psychatric test. Things r evident that this moron cant run bze.hopefully he gets advised how 2 steal more money from taxpayers like the mexicans presidents.can someone out there please suggest him 2stay there forever.he is a disgraced politician in our country.shame on our puppet mistress.please dont to bze. After all this inbecile has a green card.

  17. Edith says:

Not to add to the PM bashing but there is a time n place for everything. We r celebrating our country’s independence so Mr Barrow should’ve stayed in the country. The Mexican president didn’t leave his country to come to Bze for the 10th n it’s highly unlikely he’ll do so on the 21st. With all the negative publicity this trip should have been cancelled or postponed. I wonder does the PM have advisors n if so what the hell r they advising him? Mr Barrow the country, YOUR COUNTRY, needs u, the people need your leadership, u were sworn in to LEAD THE PEOPLE, NOT TO TRAVEL, SIT BACK N DO NOTHING WHILE THE COUNTRY FALLS APART – please listen to the cries of your people…

  18. observer says:

  21. Elgin Martinez says:

Stephen: You’ve just prove to me that you are an idiot because you don’t even know what your rights are as a Belizean Citizen.I am going to say it again and hope your retarded A is listening.Every Tax-paying Belizean has a right to hold every member of the Belizean Government accountable.Euirthermore everyone on this forum has a right to voice his or her opinion.I am not here to agree with you.I’ve got a mind of my own. With that said go home and do some brain storming your weak.

  22. Elgin Martinez says:

Stephen:Our country would never improve with peole like you because you’re so afraid to ask the hard questions.By the way let’e make a deal you give me the common sense class and i will give you some critical thinking skillsin return because it seems to me that you are really a doh-doh bird when it comes to thinking logically.Furthermore where in my statement did i disrespect Mr Barrow?

  23. Augustus says:

Maybe he ought not to have gone during September celebrations,……….. even though like Stephen I am a PUP. If they were going to Taiwan, would they say “He is going to Taiwan via Miami, New York, London, Istanbul”???

  24. Mrs Henderson says:

I agree with you guys the PM should go to Mexico and celebrate with Mexico as they mark these historical events. 200 years of Independence and 100 years of a revolution is not just any event. I understand the PM will be in Belize on the 10th and the 21st September which are the two important dates in Belize.

I don’t really make comments on here and I will try to be respectful. I want Belizeans to know that we must stop this talking down of the country, and disrespecting each other. I noh know the minimum age on here, maybe there isn’t one. Take charge of yu lives, Belize isn’t the only country experiencing very tough times but by reading this site nothing is going right with anybody. Two children here in the US are laid off because of the economic crisis, who the they blame? That is how things are, and they busy sending out job applications. They taking charge of their lives, stop blaming others. We have neighbours in Belize every minute they having another child, then they tell me things hard, we no got no job, can you g’me this, can you send that, when I come home they have the best tennis shoes, gold chain, cell phone, TV/cable,car and the house need fix.

What I am trying to say that many people don’t try to help themselves. The way life is, people in Belize have fi change dem behaviour and the way they live, stop blaming everybody fi the way your life is, start making changes. Now, we di celebrate independence next week, but Belize wasn’t ready fi independence. The people mind set was not ready fi that, and independence noh really mean anything to peple. Ih mean that you need to get up and work hard to stand on you own two feet.

The PM might be disappointing to some of you but you need to help youself. He can only do so much, and crime? Tha noh he the shoot up peple out there, its the peple shoot up each other, he noh make guns. Its the behaviour of the peple have changed. Ih have more crime weh ih deh right now, this weekend than in Belize. In America we are told noh fi travel to Mexico, so yes we need fi improve pan that but crime is everywhere.

    Happy INDEPENDENCE Day people!

  25. rod says:

belmex who gives a crap about mexico they are also the cause of all the deaths in belize because they cannot control any part of gov they are so corrupt they will never get better and they are spreading death and destruction to all of central america so who cares about their celebration belizeans do not need to celebrate the mexican nothing we have our own here but he is a coward wants to run away from the problems because he is not a leader he is judas.

  26. John says:

Traveling to Mexico City via Miami? Unless the PM has business there, wouldn’t it have made more sense to fly Maya Island to Cancun and then Aviasca (sp?) to Mexico City?

For that matter, motorcade to Chetumal and then Aviasca (again sp?) from Chetumal to Mexico City?

I’ve flown this route, great service and not too bad a price*.

    John

*Aviasca, I would like a discount for the promo, next time I fly to Mx City-:))

  27. are you two serious?!? says:

Belmex…Global Pers. are you two serious? Where exactly do you ‘Belizeans’ live? Do you even live in Belize? If you do not live in Belize; then shut your mouth, because this is beyond political, this is beyond PUP or UDP my friends; this is reality and the reality is our COUNTRY is going down the drain in every aspect you can think of and the person in charge is not doing his job. People don’t give a …. if Barrow is UDP or PUP; people are dying, starving; people can’t send their kids to school; people can’t feed their kids; people are being kicked out their homes on a daily basis; the desperation and hopelessness is in every single area of this country….Barrow cannot blame global economy or PUP or whatever else he blames for everything; anymore…he knew what he was getting himself into and he needs to …. or get off the damn chamber pot. You two need a serious reality check; but i doubt that would work, because you are a Barrow follower (blind ones, too) Barrow cannot run this country because he is disassociated from the reality of the streets; he has no clue how serious it is in the country of Belize; he lives in his own reality.

  28. bzeanbrain says:

Belmex obviously haven’t travelled to mexico city via chetumal. I have and its cheap and easy to do. I agree the PM has diplomatic duties but common sense dictates he has an ambassador in mexico to represent Belize and could have saved some money to assist in fighting crime and poverty. Things had da Belize!!!!

  29. Mrs Henderson says:

…….and fi me Creole and Garifuna (black) bwais need fi respect them self, noh blame poverty. We talk bout crime but tha lone blacks doing this. Nobody want to say this cause they’ll say your racist. But I noh racist cause I black and that dah weh ah di see. No chiney man, no cooley, no mayans just black bwai (den dah noh man) the act like idiots. 99% of the crime dah black face we see pan di news. You the tell me dah only blacks have life hard in Belize? Noh matter how hard yu life, you tell me you can’t have wah honest life like everybody else?

And den yu kill yu own people? cause da black di kill black (young and the old victims) and innocent chinese people, weh no harm anybody. Shame, shame, shame, the parents are to blame also, deh need fi start hanging these boys.

  30. charlotte a.k.a 'Your Ladyship" says:

It’s my understanding that many of our neighbouring countries are celebrating their independence in September, which had me thinking what’s the significance of the month of September to Latin America or was this just coincidence. Anyhow, the point I want to make is that Mexico marks two historical events this year. Belize and Mexico have work closely cooperation, and many of us do business, studies and leisure trips there. Therefore I think it is right that Belize (represented by our PM and the first lady) should celebrate with the Mexican people. He was in Belize to celebrate the 10th and he will be back to celebrate the 21st of September with his people.

I know from experience that connections between Mexico and Belize are tricky, as my family done this only four months ago and some of us had to take the bus to Cancun and some of us travelled via Miami. Obviously no one expects our PM to arrive in Mexico by bus, that is absurd. This article really shows that Mr Barrow really cannot win, as there is a group of people which seems to be working to undermine his government. I see that some individuals spend their entire time making very nasty comments about our PM. However it shows we live in a democracy, and not under a tyrant (e.g Mr Mugabe). The UDP won with more than 20,000 votes only 2 years ago, because the people wanted a change. Now rather than supporting our elected PM, it is criticism after criticism after criticism after criticism. Those of you who call for revolution, what do you think will be the result? Your fate handed back to the PUP, because your lives were much better right? I have heard this argument before, and quite frankly I hear the same people lamenting when PUP rules. The point is maybe you need to look within yourselves to make life happen for you. As JFK said “Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country”.

Like Belmex, I believe objective criticism is how we make progress by raising standards, and improvement, but this is a legitimate travel in my opinion and criticism not necessary. Furthermore he should have done as some of you suggested take a Helicoptor or a private jet, as the react would have been the same either way.

  31. barley blair says:

4 people killed on carnival day. one an 8-year-old baby girl sleeping in her bed. where is the pm? drinking tequila in mexico. barrow is a disgrace and a traitor to belize.

  32. BZNinCALI says:

Charlotte, Stephen, Belmex & Mrs Henderson you guys are right.

As one of the people who attended his town hall meeting, I did not leave believing he had his head in the sand about the crime wave that has washed over the country. He addressed it in depth & even though I did not agree with some of his statements, he at least had a clue. I went in with the same attitude many of you have mostly because of the stupid comment he made after his driver’s 9year old step daughter was shot & left paralyzed earlier this year. As a Head of State, face time is important with our neighbors, if the Heads of State in Latin America & the Caribbean do not come up with a solution to stop the violence & bloodshed that has washed over most of our countries, we are doomed.

Living abroad does not change our affection for Belize & our concern for our fellow Belizeans. Many of us speak up because we remember what our country was like & believe that things can turn around. That we are not dodging bullets is a relief but the pain is not reduced by distance when we get phone calls in the middle of the night informing us that another loved one has been murdered.

I did not see the commitment to resolving the crime situation in Belize in the previous administration either & many of us are trying to light a fire under our people to get them to get off their backsides & take back their neighborhoods. If some of us saw a little ambition. we would gladly provide tools to help another brother or sister help him/herself out of poverty, we just refuse to send money for $400.00 tennis shoes. Bata is gone but their $8.00 tennis shoes & $5.00 ones from Sicaffe did not leave any of us crippled & we were glad to have it.

Barley blair, if you know who shot any of these people, I think you can pass along info & remain anonymous.

  33. Common Sense says:

Wow. We Belizeans are just full of it.. Most of you who have commented so far have not checked your facts and are acting out completely on pure emotions and political bias (yes “are you two serious?!?” I am refering mostly to you). Only 50 or 60 words about the PM and we are quick to say negative comments. Yes he can do better but the reality is NOTHING IS EASY IN THIS ECONOMY. EVERY COUNTRY IS SUFFERING. I agree completely with Belmex! He and the only few people who either agreed partially or could have had something constructive to say with regards to this article made any sense at all. What should be on the news these days shouldn’t be the PM’s travel plans, but our belizean people lacking any sense of objective criticism rather than making our personal opinions and desire to turn anything into negative corrupt news. The sad part is foreigners come here to Belize to live because they say it is BETTER HERE THAN FROM WHERE THEY CAME FROM. We wonder why so many Asian people have shops here in Belize and complain that they are taking up all the jobs. Its because where they come from they cud have finished college with a Masters Degree but there are simply no jobs available for them. They come to Belize and work hard for their money. The only reason the open up shops is because they can’t speak English. Yet still they work for their money. Same thing with people from Mexico, Guatemala and several other Central American countries. They might not be as educated as us but the crime rate is worst back in their own country and the economy was in a hole even before times started getting hard for the entire world. I have seen people come here from different countries with nothing but the shirt on their backs and within years they make something of themselves. Times are hard in Belize, but that is no excuse. This is a land of opportunity if only a few of us were willing to humble ourselves and take pride in getting our hands dirty every once in a while. Its not the PM who isn’t doing anything. IT IS US. Mr. Barrow doesn’t make this country, WE DO!

  34. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

RESPECT, RESPECT, RESPECT, show some bloody respect for your Prime Minister people, your disrespect is astounding, while inexplicably adding nothing to the debate here.

why the hell should the prime minister has to travel to Mexico on a darn bus, he is the Prime minister and he is entitled to travel with some class and dignity, after all he is representing The entire Belize, not only those at the bottom of the food chain.

Mr. Barrow duties as the Prime Minister are not only to preside over the cabinet, or to be accountable for the actions of everything done in the big house. A part of his duty is also to be an active role in international affairs.

Get use to it ….kers, because the Prime Minister have to and will continue to attend international conferences, and spend tax money, in order to contribute to Belize economy and its people, without international affairs Belize is doomed to fail . Belizeans should be grateful for any darn help given to them from any other country like Mexico, USA, and Europe. If it was not for international affairs Belize would not be able to entered Mexico so easily to go buy their cheap …. in order to stretch or save money.

Stop asking what your country can do for you; ask what the ….K you can do for your country, and then do it.

  35. rod says:

with this no good gov. economy in the drain, education in the drain, crime way wayyyyyyyyyy out of control, exports in the drain, imports in the drain not one good thing not one good thing has come out from this gov, corruption no even talk bout that if you mi think pup mi bad this gov have a masters degree in corruption plus the country the go to pot you know how bad things really are when you prefer to bring back the pup.

  36. trikz says:

Go on your trip enjoy it, nothing is wrong to share that event with our neighboring countries however the pm does go to maimi a whole lot for whatever reasons he must have but he must remember the economy is real bad in this country. When will the PM get the kendall bridge fixed?? mein does the PM know how annoying it is when that bridge is flooded you cannot reach your destination especially if you cannot afford these expensive flight fares, and does he realize how many trucks travell this route with needed goods, and gas for the southern region??? when that bridge is flooded things are scarce down south so think bout your Belizean ppl first remember those who still live here in Belize, because they are the ones who voted you into your position and they could easly take you out back!!!!!!

  37. rod says:

imagine people under this gov. according to CEPAL all of latin america and the carribeans economy have grown and will continue to grow except for belize imagine what a shame worse economy in central america period we are even worse than haiti mein what does that tell you.

  38. Mrs Henderson says:

Fi di person who ask bout whether somebody live in Belize or not. Let me inform you of something fi years and years, perhaps before you even baan, Belizeans abroad contributed to di economy of Belize and continue fi do soh, some times working 2/3 jobs so we could send money home. So whether we deh deh or here, ye no matter, and we should have a say. Fi most of us its like we’re right there. Imagine we outside di country stop, den u really gwein see how di economy look, may den u wah see hard times. This just show u how cruffy stay.

Fi di peeple weh di talk bout the economy, let me tell you somethin the economy growth is because di peeple get up and work. Den no sit dung pan computa, criticising den gov. Even if u go clean di floor in the KHMH, or open a carwash, all you need da wah parking lot, buket a watta and soap. I use to send money home fi mi ma befoe she died in Belize and take care of mi family here in America. Hard work but did i with pride, and loved it. Some peeple need to get up off den …….se. 40. macal rivera says:

some of you guys are so negative about our country, why you people don’t get on your knees and start praying for our country, Mr Barrow is not God, he is the Prime minister of the country, he can’t solve all the problems, we the people have to do our part too, let start by being good parents, our children are what we want them to be, most of the crimes are being commited by young men, and women, where the heck are the parents, most of the crimes is about revenge, again where are the parents, innocent people are dying cause of revenge, parents need to do there part, there must be forgiveness, our people have turn their back to God, and now he left us on our own, but its still not late cause if we return to him with repented heart, God is faithful to forgive us and heal our land.
It is not the Mr Dean Barrow duty to raise our kids, common everybody, we all know the sins of the parents fall on the children up to three generations. We must start to love one another, laziness, greed is the other factor that contribute to all the social issues affecting our country, but in the end its about we the people, if every individaul in this beautiful country decide to make a personal positive change in their lives we will surley see a diffrence, Mr Dean Barrow can only do so much, we have to help make a change in our country.
YOU GUYS NEED TO READ THE STAR NEWSPAPER, THERE IS AN ARTICLE THATMAKE SENSE, ITS A PITY THEY DID’NT TRANSLATED IN ENGLISH, PARENTS ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN MAKE A DIFFRENCE. REMEMBER OUR PM IS NOT GOD OK.
