Fire destroys home on Airport road
The damage was similar at a house on the Airport Road—all its contents were destroyed and just the frame of the house remained standing. But the cause of this fire was electrical. While the owner, Anita Estelle, is away, the house was occupied by Mario Sanchez and Dora Perrera, who were both at home at the time of the fire. Sanchez was hospitalized with burn injuries.
Kenneth Mortis, Training Officer, Nat’l Fire Service
“Early in the morning about couple minutes before eight, we received a call for that particular fire in the Ladyville area. When our unit arrived we found the Ladyville fire fighting team already on the scene doing fire extinguishing. So National Fire Service joined in with them and we collectively extinguished this fire after which we learnt that this particular structure was owned by Miss Anita, who resides in the U.S.
Mr. Sanchez, he received burn damage to his upper torso, chest, arms, and face, which would have been thirty-nine percent fire damage or burn damage that he received to his person. After we investigated this fire, we learnt that this fire started off as a result of faulty electrical wire which was housed in between the kitchen area. This particular structure, which wasn’t insured, was a value of thirty thousand dollars and the contents lost was roughly seven thousand dollars.”
