Media report: Taiwan/Bze to sign oil exploration agreement

Media reports coming out of the Republic of China indicate that Belize and Taiwan will sign an oil exploration agreement. The announcement came at a diplomatic reception in Taiwan and was made by Ambassador to Belize Joseph Shih. The signing is said to be set for September twenty-ninth and will be between state-owned C.P.C. Corp and G.O.B. Shih is quoted as saying that the move will upgrade “the bilateral cooperation to a new level” and that the details of the agreement will be made public after the wording has been hammered out. Because of the late hour we received the report, we were unable to verify it with local officials. We will however, keep you posted.
