Three men accuse of carnal knowledge in P.G.

Like rape, the act of engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor under the age of sixteen is a criminal offence under Belizean laws. But judging from the frequency with which we report such cases on our newscast, we’re not sure if residents are not aware or just don’t care. Tonight there are several cases of carnal knowledge coming from the south as a fifteen year old girl of Punta Gorda town has reported incidents involving three perpetrators. The first criminal act allegedly took place in October 2007, presumably when the child was fourteen, and visiting a friend’s residence. The child’s friend was not at home, but her brother was and the minor reported that they had sex. The second incident implicates a B.D.F. soldier. The teen says that in June she met the soldier who took her to his home and engaged in sexual intercourse with her. The final case, however, involves another minor. The victim reports that in September she met a seventeen year old student who took her to his house and had sex with her. The seventeen year old was arrested and charged with Carnal Knowledge, while the other two men are still being sought by police.
