Police on the hunt for suspected serial rapist

Police need your help in apprehending a suspected serial rapist who has been targeting women in the Saint Martin’s and Collet areas of Belize City. Police believe nineteen year old Leroy Gomez stalks women as they walk alone or in twos and pounce on them in dark areas of the city. One of the locations where the alleged rapist has been carrying out his acts is a park on Iguana Street Extension.

“Based on several reports received from incidents of rape occurring within that area. We think it’s confined to one area; the Antelope Street Extension, Jasmine and Flamboyant Streets. That’s are itself is believed—we do not believe at this time that it’s serial—but yes we believe that it’s the same person who is doing the rapes and accosting those females out there lat at night. We do believe that it is one person doing these things.”

“From investigations so far, yes we have a suspect who we do believe we are looking for. Sometimes he just stays in a corner approaching people who he sees walking alone, most times yes, he’s using a bicycle to get away.”

Gomez is believed to be responsible for four rapes. If you know his whereabouts you’re asked to call the nearest police station.
