Two arrested for kidnapping, three others on the run
Police have two persons in custody and are looking for three others in connection with an alleged kidnapping. According to thirty-nine year old taxi driver, Marcos Alvarez Campos, around five Monday morning a young lady and a man stopped him on Queen Victoria Avenue in Orange Walk Town and asked to be taken to Asuncion Street. Once there, the driver says he was told to open the trunk of the car and was punched in the face after he did so. Two other men then came on the scene and one put a knife to Campos’ throat and the other, a gun to his head. Campos reports that he was robbed of jewelry and cash and locked inside the trunk. The robbers then drove the vehicle towards Belize City, but around Rhaburn Ridge the car began to experience mechanical problems and was abandoned. The San Jose Nuevo Palmar resident was later rescue by passers-by. Police have since detained eighteen year old Kendall Sanchez of Antelope Street Extension and twenty-one year old Marie Reyes of Pitter Street, both of Belize City. The cops are now on the lookout for Hubert “Kid” Velasquez, Nolbert Bruce, and a man known only as Alex.
